Not to take anything away from Taj, but Slater is smooth. His carves and turns look effortless but at the same time it looks like there's a lot of power in them. His surfing flows, and somehow he has the ability to pick out the best waves.

I love Taj. He is my favorite progessive surfer. But kelly is just too good. He is still better than taj overall. I wish them both the best of luck. But Kelly is still en fuego.

part of me says, "I wish he would just move on and retire" but then I think about the fact that if he did this, the guys winning the competition would still be subpar in comparison and we'd just be watching everyone that usually came in under Slater.
In my opinion, video has killed the next ASP superstar. All the new guys are one trick wonders hoping to pull off that one HUGE air reverse to win a heat. And, unlike the edited movies they won't make all of them and each contest will be a big try and fall fest.
    Slater is amazing.

The guy is just unbelievable. I watched every one of his heats on demand and he just rips, rarely makes a mistake ever and if he does it's at the end of a wave that he already solidified a 8.33 on. I hope he gets to 15. It's great to see a guy 1 year younger than me do this kind of stuff on the tour. Guys like Taj and Dane just need to be more sonsistent in contests and keep the showboating to their free surfing sessions. I think besides Kelly Taj is the guy who could win this years title. Helps that he is a Firwewire guy! Keep it going Kelly!
