Has anyone heard if Robert Moses will be open soon/this summer?

The beaches in the area will be a nightmare if all thenormal RM traffic goes to the others... especially when the town beaches start checking for residents.

There is a cop that will check to see if you are authorized to cross the second bridge (if you have a home or business and need to get there etc) but other wise it is off limits still. They should be open for summer but there probably wont be any 4X4 going on but if there is you got the plovers to deal with which will shut that down. As for the other town beaches, get there early before the beach is "open" and you will bypass the crazy ass fee's they demand for non residents.

I heard from some guys last summer that they started ticketing you if you got to certain town beaches before they started charging for the day... I can't verify this though

They always ticket at the town beaches. Sometimes you get lucky, some times you don't. I would bet it will be more in force this year in the aftermath of the storms. Erosion reduced the amount of beach for people to enjoy, this will lead to more enforcement.

I never had any issues at Gilgo. I would get there before 8 am when they started charging and as long as I left before 11 I never got a ticket.

I was at demos this past weekend and its definitely different. Maybe not at first glance but the sand bar was all off. Maybe it was just the lack of swell but it looked bad. At low tide it was so insanely drained out. The beach went all the way out to the end of the jetty. It's basically just shore break now.
