Im 4 from the beach out in rockaway and I have not been in since before the storm.
I see there is a flagpole jutting out of the water at low tide, right in the surf zone... so Im sure there is a ton of debrii out there...
I'd like to hear from anyone that's actually been in since sandy...

Went out last Sunday at 67th street. No visible debris in the water and nobody in my group got sick. Kinda felt like a **** (although I volunteered and donated) as I came in from the City with board on roof. 2'+ day - fun to get back in, but felt a bit weird. Concrete boardwalk is all messed up....

Well you are contributing to their recovery if you are buying gas there, buying a meal there, no?

True, still kind of weird walking past a hoard of volunteers wearing a 5/4/3 and a board under my arms!

zaGaffer, thanks.... things are settling down for me as far as repairing the mess for me. Other than a gutted basement and lost work equipment... and more sand then I need at my place... lol. Thanks for the holiday wishes and I certainly would expect that you could put me in tackle distance from Joel Tudor.... that guy needs a good tackling!!!! And don't think I won't go sitting waaaaaaaay outside on his punk ass.

Well, the volunteers mostly don't live there. Especially at 67th. So walking past them with a board should be no big deal.
