based on what i've already seen this winter and spring, i'm thinking they will be bigger and more frustrating than ever. is opening another surfing beach a total non-starter? i'm carless and am forced to take the subway often so as soon as the lifeguards come out i'm at the mercy of the crowd. not stoked...

Just for the record, I have never surfed there but it gets a report on surfline.com
Also the area there is not super safe or developed like 90th.

If you hit up 67th in the morning it's not that bad. 90th and 92nd are insane. The surf school usually takes up the 67th street jetty, so two or 3 jetty's over are empty. Plus when the school gets out of the water, usually every 15 minutes you get it all to yourself. They don't usually venture out that deep anyway.
