What's the best roof rack system? I'm looking for a system for my Honda Pilot. I have an old Thule setup for an old car but I think the bars are too short for my Pilot so I may have to start from scratch. I have the Thule square cross bars. They worked very well but my biggest complaint was wind noise. It looks like Thule sells Aero bars that are supposed to be quieter and more aerodynamic. Anyone have these? If so, are they quiet? I was leaning towards buying longer square cross bars since i already have a surfboard and snowboard attachment that these will fit on. I'm not sure if they will work with the newer Aero bars due to their shape. ________ Lamborghini V10
if you have a exhisting roof rack that came on the honda from the factory the Thule surfboard system might fit on it. I got lucky with my Landrover and they fit. Also if you get longer square tubes you can get a Air sheild to cut donw on the noise
Thanks Matt. Clarification - my factory rack on the pilot is only the side rails. I still need the crossbars though so basically need a whole new setup. ________ MARYJANE
I would call the dealer and see if you can get factory ones and they might be able to use the Surf rack system
I drive a Honda Element, and bought the factory roof rack and the surfboard rack mounts. I have no issues with wind noise whatsoever. You may be limited with what you can put on the racks though, as far as things other than your boards. The clips on the straps are made of plastic, and look like they may break on me someday. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-OEM-Honda-Surf-Board-Rack-Odyessy-Element-CRV-Pilot-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ260257454394QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
those look almost identical to the thule surf rack system i got . I put longboards on it and have been doing 70 in the highway and they never loosen up . Just give the straps a quick inspection prior to use .
