His obit stated he passed due to "a series of unfortunate circumstances". I don't know any more than that. RIP Blasters.
Sand Blaster is a SwellInfo HOF member for sure. I will do a Carolina Cutback in his memory next session.
Regrettably, I don't believe that was the case. His obit stated that fought for his life for 20 days. Again, I don't know the details about what happened.
he was a solid guy I was gonna loan him that 7 foot gun I had bought during a tropical swell..hope he rests in peace
Extra sad to hear... Was that him in the pic? Could this be the first longtime swellie that passed???
Mr. Belmar, that is our homie in the pic, and I believe the question to your answer is yes, unless there are any I'm unaware of.
Blasters of ye Sand overdosed, most likely on some dope-fentanyl mix. Was working. Got off work. Did his bag in his vehicle. Fell out. Didn't die. Was in his car for hours before being noticed. Some controversy exists whether his co-workers ( who he may have copped from) knew he was unresponsive and didn't do anything aboot it. Was in a coma for weeks. Didn't make it. I conversed with him semi-regularly, though he wasn't exactly honest aboot his use. He just got out of rehab a few months before he died. But he blew it off saying, "Ah that was just aboot alcohol." I doubt that. But, yeah, alcohol never hurt anybody. He had been doing Roxis for some time and dabbled in dope. Not playing some hero, but I told him the dope game was extremely dangerous out there these days, especially for the novices. And nobody feel bad aboot some freaken stupid jabs on the Internet. He didn't care. Only republicans and middled-aged surfers can't handle themselves on the Internet. Don't tread on me...or I'll tell. The only thing that pissed off Blasters on the Internet was when he was questioned of whether he was in the military. He was. He was also a true child of the sea. On a surfing site where dudes brag aboot money, jobs, and material possessions, he was a true surfer. That stuff didn't mean anything to him. He, apparently, was a hero in the Philippines. Man, these young kids with the dope, man.
