Christie just gave a news conference. Lavallette, seaside heights and ortley are under water. Expect the worst. He'll be touring by helicopter some time soon (as of 11:00am 10/30) since there is nowhere to land. Said he will makes pics available. No one allowed back on barrier island for the next few says
Doubt many will be surfing in NJ today with all the cleanup to do. LBI is under water. The Funtown Pier in Seaside is wrecked. Heard reports of houses in Brick being swept away and are bumping into the causeway bridge. Don't think AC or OC fared much better....
Super Fish - Good luck to those of you at Little Creek. Any word on Dam Neck? I imagine they probably also took a pretty tough hit, given their location.
clueless cops, with a megaphone, calling people out of the water in long island...as people drop into blatantly perfect tubes in the background
haha thats a great picture! i dont know why they even bother trying to stop surfers. if you are a competent enough surfer, you'll know your limits or you're willing to go break them, it's our choice. please, leave us alone during hurricane swell
Surfers are probably one of the few groups that the big cheese shouldn't worry so much about. 1. Wearing full body flotation device, check. 2. Bobber attached to body, check. 3. Way more experienced in rough water than a good number of badge wearing authorities, check. 4. If they don't belong out there, mother ocean will wash their azz to the beach, check. Yeah...yeah...yeah...I can already hear the "What if..." comments. Leave 'em alone in their stoke and let fate, karma and Darwin sort 'em out. Let the cops spend their time busting wakeboarders being towed down the street pushing 3' wakes into everyone's garages and cars.
