Me and my lady got a VRBO a couple blocks off the beach in Pleasure Point, Santa Cruz for a week. We leave this Friday and will return the following Friday. Any recommendations from ye brethren and sisters of the Sea on where to surf, restaurants, parks, or anything else groovy about the place would be most righteously appreciated.

As far as surfing, I'm familiar with the Hook, Steamer Lane, and some other popular spots. Hope to find some less down fun waves while there, any advise would be grand. I surf in Florida so it doesn't take much for me to be impressed by waves in other lands. I'll be bringing a propper shortboart and a groveler as the airline alloweth me two boards under the board fee policy.

check out the area of moss landing. Really good beach breaks. There is also an inlet right there.

4 mile, Waddell creek, and Scott creek for surf. Big basin redwood park, natural bridges state park, and Butano state park.

Steamer Lane is pretty suite, but not all that close to Pleasure Point. Probably what, 10-15 minutes by car? I was just in Santa Cruz about two weeks ago when I was on business. My best friend surfs Santa Cruz frequently, as he lives out there.

I've surfed there quite a bit over the years, but don't know the area too, too well. I usually go once a year when I'm there on business.

Yeah it’s a short drive to the Lane from there. Some spots in between though. When I was there they had a SUP and kayak contest going on, which surprised me, so I ended up at The Hook which has a nice wave.

Go check out Davenport... couple miles north with cool breaks that are not nearly as crowded as Santa Cruz.. also avoid the lane. It’s a waste of your time dealing with locals. It’s a fun wave but you better be ready to get down.

Lol about Moss Landing. Still one of my favorite west coast waves.

26th Ave. Its kind of tucked halfway between the Steamer Lane and Pleasure Point side of town right where a creek drains out into the ocean. Less crowded because its not a pointbreak setup and for that area would be considered a mediocre wave. But it picks up swell and has nice sandbar and rock bottom peaks. It will remind you of a very good east coast beachbreak. Very kelpy.

Guess What? haha... i've got some pictures. From a trip about 15 years ago:
This was in Late May....water temps were around 60. 3/2 and optional light boots.
