buddy just moved out there have a chance to visit/live out there for a bit after school. He says certain breaks are usually head high 20 mins north almost everyday. Anyone have any spots, water temp info, feedback? Sure as hell beats jersey.

Dude put on a bright a$$ dayglo colored wetsuit (probably like a 6/5/4), grab a sweet CI Fred Rubble, put ALL 5 fins in it (this is very important) and roll your butt out to Steamer Lane. Paddle right to the middle of the pack and yell as loud as you can how bad a$$ Jerze is and how Bel Mar is the only break to ride.

The size is correct. It gets good a lot of the year, but actual Santa Cruz has a strange angle on it. Just look at a map. Sometimes its the best place to be, sometimes not so much, but there are nice, heavy waves there a lot of the time.

Google the water temps and spots. Go to wannasurf.com and it will tell you all that.

It will "sure as hell beats anywhere back east" i suppose, if you are regarding the waves. Just look it up. People her generally aren't about sharing spots and stuff that is readily available elsewhere.

Ohh, and the locals are not all that inviting to people from Jersey. FYI.
