Micah & gang - What is the consensus out there about tomorrow's dawn patrol in Monmouth County? Got a busy day and only opportunity is to go out dawn patrol till about noon (but pretty long drive to the beach so...). The forecast is calling for waist to chest in the am and then building, which is totally fine with me if that is the case.

I love this site but a lot of other sites are not really calling for any swell to arrive until late in the day. I know it may take longer for the swell to start to fill in up in the Monmouth Cty area so I am just wondering if the early morning forecast is a maybe too optimistic.

    What are your thoughts?

Just in my opinion if you got the time just go and if its on your rite there first in the water and loving it...... if you go and get skunked o well..... but if you dont go and there are waves youll hate yourself all day.....

I'd just go with all the action goin on in the water I think there's a good shot for the am. Ive had a lot of good days that werent supposed to be good. If we listen to all the naysayers we'd never surf

I'm wondering the same thing. I would check the different bouy's as mentioned. When the swell hits the buoys, you'll see the period jump and can kind of guesstimate when it will get in.

Also, there are some surfcams that have enough light for a good part of the night to see if there's a groundswell hitting. can't tell too much, but can at least get an idea of whether there's a swell or not.

Get up and go...even if it's only waist high, you'll have it all to yourself. There will be bigger sets.
