Anyone have any experience with Sayulita? I want to go on a longboard trip, as my wife is a longboarder and this place looks pretty solid. There is however the stigma that surrounds taking any trip to Mexico and I don't know enough about it to believe the hype about the violence or not. Any help would be much obliged.
Was there last Easter. Pretty cool place, waves not big but consistent. Pretty much all longboarders and SUPs in line-up. Stayed in Puerto Vallarta at RIU Palace all inclusive and drove there (about 45-min. easy drive). Felt pretty safe at each place.
I've been to both sayulita and the troncones area (I'm guessing we're refering to "la saladita") and I actually prefer the one near vallarta. The waves were rideable at both spots, but the reefs north of vallarta have clearer/bluer water...it just feels more what you go to the tropics for.
