Hi, I recently relocated out here from the East Coast; grew up surfing and would consider myself an intermediate skill level. Just looking for some fun waves this weekend and wasn't sure where to start. Headed to Pacific City for a function and then staying the weekend to explore neighboring breaks. Haven't surfed since I moved here, about 2 months now, so looking for a fun introduction to the NW. Any advice on where would be a fun, mellow-er type beach? Just looking to catch some fun peaks... lots of them. Appreciate any thoughts!
Go To seaside. Then try to locate, I believe Sandy beach, or "shark's Cove" which is walk in access only. (I learned its real name after surfing). It is such a pretty beach and usually has a bump or two to ride. It's been a while, so my names of places may be off. But I have surfed this beach on numerous occasions and it was always fun and mellow.
Bro do a search for the treads I started a few months back bout the PNW and also valuable earlier ones. Lots of great info was shared here. Several solid SI bros up in that area you should PM - kidrock, NWsquid, mattybrews and others. Yes, hit up Seaside Cove and there are a number of great spots within 1-2 hours of you in Pac City. OR is way better and more dense for surf going up the coast and access is so much better compared to WA. Get the Stormsurfer's guide for the area on your smart phone iTunes Store or download it online. Perhaps you've been busy with work and getting settled in but how have you gone 2 months without surfing? You may want to get a handful of sessions in during smaller conditions at first, especially if Pacific waves are new to you - they were WAY different for me at first than EC. You're in a great area and it's a place I would move to for more reasons than surf. Enjoy it bro.

Just moved out here from the mid-Atlantic 6 months ago. Surf is relatively consistent and good. So long that you don't mind surfing in cold water year round. Coming from the east coast it's a dream. Very rarely is it unrideable. Even when it's small (waist with maybe a few shoulder high cleanup sets)...it'd be considered a good day on the east coast. "Crowds" are barely an issue. Localism is only a problem in a few spots...plenty of good places where it's not an issue. Come winter, you'll be amazed that you actually aren't surfing some days because it's too big. Hey Tina! Great to see another woman on here don't let the locker room talk chase you away can get solid advice here and some very good laughs. Never surfed PNW so I can't help you there, but have been to Vancouver a bunch, and that's one awesome city, even if it's not America.
Seaside Cove (not the Point), Ecola State Park, and Short Sands are all good starting points. They can also get very good. Pacific City has a couple good breaks but if you want mellow... maybe Florida?
