If a citizen shoots a police dog, they citizen gets jailed for life. If a cop shoots a citizen's dog, nothing happens. What's wrong with that?

Agreed. But we must look at the context of all these matters.

They all involve actual responses to serious situations. The most recent one that I posted from today in Baltimore was like 3 sentences. I found the same article on another media outlet and it further explained.

Police responded to shots fired in a rowhouse on North Ave/Druid Hill (one of the worst parts of town). Two cops went around back to secure the rear entrance/exit. A Pitt Bull "came at and attacked" the officer. With gun already drawn, he shot the dog and proceeded with securing the house.

At LEAST he didn't fire a kill shot after he hit the dog once. The dog came at him, protecting its home the way it was taught, and the cop shot the dog, because he was doing his job, responding to a HUMAN shooting.

The context of these scenarios need to be accounted for each time.

What would you have done. (I know, none of us are cops, so we wouldn't be in that situation). But say you were a cop, you get a call about a shootout in Dru Hill. You and 3 other officers have to respond. You and your partner arrive, the other two are ready to knock on the door, or kick it in. They ask you two to go around back and when you hear that door kick in, move in from the back and cover.

When you get around back, you quietly open the metal fence post, then from the stair case, leading to the basement, comes a Pit Bull. It charges you, barking and gnashing it's teeth. Your gun is already drawn and you know everyone in the house is probably armed....

Do you let the dog bite you while you holster your gun, and get the tazer out and ready? Or do you take your already drawn gun, move it an inch to the right, shoot the animal in the side and continue on trying to secure the location....

    What would you do?

It's not like most of these situations are dirty, evil cops shooting pets for fun. They aren't just rolling up to dog parks and killing random animals.... These are all situations that these guys are put in.

They are cops, not animal rights activists. They are cops. Their job is to protect PEOPLE, not gold fish, not dogs, not cats, not rats and not dolphins. Their ONE job is to protect and serve PEOPLE. So their oath is to never put the health of an animal above the health of a person, including themselves.

That is sad. The cruel and corrupt should be dealt with. I am not advocating any violence, because I don't want to bring myself down to their level. But a punishment is deserved.

Hey!!!!!!!!! Lay off! These guys are heroes. 'Merka's finest. Probably straight off the streets of Baghdad.
Those guys just got skeert and flashed back to the good old days of kicking in doors and killing women and children. It's all they know. Perfect for using against the citizens.

America is a police state. Don't kid yourself with that land of the free, home of the brave crap. Because it is just that: crap. The Officer Friendly bs, spare me. The cop who shot that dog needs to be bruitalized in front of his fellow jackass power-hungry klansmen.

The American Sheeple haven't realized it yet: police state.

Y'all may want to read that article in today's NYT about the people in AZ starting to standup to the 3 to 4 checkpoints they endure per day & the personal questioning by cops/ICE & the searching without cause of their vehicles and their persons.

We the citizens have lost most of our civil rights. Most people just haven't experienced the truth yet.

I agree Yankee. Most people dont realize that their rights are gone until they experience it. That whole "well I'm not doing anything thing wrong so they can search me" thing. Wait till we have drones spying on us. Most large police departments are developing drone programs.
Swell info, I feel the same. Why is there such a double standard. Cops should not be able to kill our animals with no recourse. We need a police force for our police force.

cops mostly kill pitbulls because of their reputation and probly don't want to take the chance.personally I don't like pitbulls, but iv already had 2,my brother had a shytload and they are really nice loyal dogs.i got a 1 yr old pit from a friend a long time ago and the first 2nd I got out the car I didn't even need a leash and the dog walked side by side.my 2nd pit was a little pup but not too little just roaming the streets and it followed me home.its not the dog but how people raise them.i heard lots of horryfiying stories about blax with pits how they don't feed em and they give them other dog blood to get them to like it.pits just get a bad rap all around.i cant remember how many lost dogs iv found and returned to their home.i don't see a loose dog and think oh shyt get a gun and shoot it,I walk up to them nicely and if they are friendly il pet and comfort them.i met very few dogs that I wasn't able to control.

theres just sick people in the world and some of them are cops.i seen a story the other day somebody put a dog in a lobster cage and dropped it in sea.lighting cats on fire, anyone that intentionally harms any animal is a sick person.and the justice system hands out very light sentences for animal offenders.u kill ur neighbors dog and get 2 yrs probation, kill a cop dog and ur getting time

"I don't have to follow the constitution since Obama doesn't". Well I guess then nobody has to.

You heard it from the PD, constitution is now null and void...go have fun.

Hahaha thanks hermano! The polarization in contemporary society cracks me up, from diehards on both sides...their asses must hurt on the daily.
