The irony here is, dreamsofalpacas trolled every senior member on SI with this thread, and putting senior members in quotes gets the douche canoe of the day award.

The mason ho/ho bull**** is an illustration of how pathetic the trolls on this forum are...nothing witty and elegant to IBC, Dune, sandblaster, etc sweeping the front page. Laziest form of trolling I've seen on the forum...I agree with bungalowparkbob and I'm sure others....sad day for SI forum.

Edit: Ok it is a little much but I think that was the point and what made it funny. I agree and if you look through my post history I speak out often against the spamming and trolling. However "sad day" is a bit dramatic come on. ALl forms go through periods of seriousness and ridiculousness. Today was ridiculous tomorrow may be serious who da EFF knows?

 

However we do need to find a way to separate the junk from the quality in order to have a more effective forum.

 

That's my point...trolling is going to happen on a forum...but seriously full page sweeps are weak and small minded. Quality of the posts have gone down...most degrade to some form of name calling, referencing gnome, Wayne, Belmar, etc. it's almost as bad as the stay above the weather troll...

Edit: re:bubonicphoniks: with the crew that has been posting lately...you really think that a majority of the posts will become more serious...focused, etc. Come on...can't even remember if there has been a full page sweep on here. Saw it all the time on 'erbb pizza sweeps on the weekend. Got old and tired pretty quick...

Yea totally I think this crew can have a great and intelligent forum.....hell for a bunch of drunken, nag wifed old men, kooks, rippers all over the country we do ok.

It is fru starting that every thread gets hijacked though. But hey I think as a group we are working on it. (Most of us)

Bottom line is it is a community. If as a community the front page is a bit of fun then that's what it is. It's what we all contribute that is the si forums.

 

Point taken...I made a generalization---but I couldn't imagine a majority of serious posts on the front page. as for the community statement, I fully agree...hence my post reaffirming a number of posters "senior members" perspective on the state of some of the posts lately. Further, I think you're right that if I'm frustrated at the quality of posts (if that was the subtext)...I should contribute more...I appreciate the encouragement and will start posting more...

 

Listen its cold, its flat mostly everywhere, and we all just lived through the holidays. Once the surf picks up again things will get less stupid around here. Ill be far away from the internet living in the jungle as of next week, so if im contributing to this trolling then thats one less troll as of then.
