Don't forget, Brookdale shaping class participants get a sweet discount at Greenlight for materials to build their own boards. Our shaping room is also for rent at discounted rates for those who take the class.

Still a few spots left for the May session, register soon!

for anyone on the fence about taking this class....

i took it last time around and learned a lot.

the decision for me was between buying a board and taking this class. i decided knowledge that will be with me for a lifetime was more valuable than a board that i'm probably going to eventually break.

again, it was a great experience, earl's a great teacher, i highly recommend participating.

I would TOTALLY recommend taking this class. Even if you don't end up shaping in the future it will at least help you make an educated decision about the boards you buy. You'll come out knowing just a little more about why the shaper made the board you're about to buy. My bet is that you will end up shaping your own board at least once. I'm on #4 as we speak and I foresee hundreds more. Support a program that takes the sport back to it's roots of surfers making their own boards and being 100% connected to what we love to do.

is there any possibility of running one of these classes during the summer months? i'd love to do one, but driving to lincroft from oc during the school year just isn't feasible (i'm a teacher).
or, if we could get one going closer this way, that'd be awesome, too (cape may co. vo-tech or accc, maybe?)
also, how much does it usually run?

There's usually one class in the spring, and one in the summer in August. The August class is the most popular and can fill up quickly. This class may get canceled if it doesn't meet minimum enrollment. Looks like we still need four more people to register.

I think it costs $179??? Not to sure about that... Brookdale sets the fee.

$179 isn't bad at all & i'll def. sign up for the august class as soon as registration is available. will the people in the spring class get bumped to the august class if the one they signed up for gets cancelled?

They won't automatically get bumped, as far as I know. But What they will be able to do is transfer their registration to the August class if they want to. You pay when you register, so anybody who's registered, if the class does not run, will get a refund, or have the opportunity to transfer their registration.

Why wait? The sooner you start shaping the sooner you become a better surfer. No lie, any surfer/shaper will tell you the same. Just the knowledge of how a surfboard is designed and shaped will influence how you approach surfing waves, even helps to know what surfboard to pick from your quiver for the most fun on any given day.
LBCrew is a fantastic teacher and one of the most knowledgeable people you'll ever come across.
Contact Brookdale and register now before you miss out on a great deal they're offering.

I heard a rumor that LBCrew wants to teach resin color swirls and pin lines on a retro fish with a really deep swallow.;) Guess you'll never know unless you sign up!

    Very funny, CBLACK...

...who, for all you brothers and sisters who don't know my friend CBLACK, is now running a night class out of his sweeeet basement shaping bay. Be sure to sign up for the balsa inlay session... quick and easy.

In fact... I'm pretty sure his expecting wife insists that at least a dozen "bros" show up around midnight on Friday, stay the weekend, and help themselves to hot showers and cold beers. OH.... chips and salsa on the couch, too.

    Cheers, brother... HA!

Not only will we learn the basics of balsa inlay, but we'll also go over what happens when a spider falls onto the hotcoat! I can fit about 4 people under 6' tall and we can't do any boards over 6'6" in the bay.

LBCrew, didn't you mention something about teaching the fundamentals of wood block tails as well as glass-ons?

The May Brookdale class WILL RUN. Thanks to everybody who signed up and to everybody who helped spread the word.

For those who are taking the class, the best time to start is while the class runs, so everything's fresh in your mind, and I can give you some feedback along the way. So... call Greenlight, get your blank, clear some space, and get set up. See you soon!

Yeah, class participants will get a special deal flyer the first night. Bring it into the shop this week and save about $75 on your fin setup! And some other fun freebies...

I believe there's still time to register for the class if you want in on it...
