Dead shark tissue does seem to work. See below.
ha, imo the only thing that repels sharks is a steel net..they have survivied this long by being practically immune to any opposition, they eat almost anything, there may be some science into the eltrical receptor they sense but u would need practically everyone in the water to be wearing one to maybe create some type of large magnetic field, they are there just like aliigators are in fresh water and snakes in the woods, just use caution( watch king higher tides large river mouths emptying into ocean surf fishermen pier fishing boats chumming night time, etc etc common sense and hope for the best
First things first - there are no sharks in Kelly Slades wave pool except me and magnets do not deter me from snaking you or potentially biting you if sh!t gets real. Second things second - the only thing that deters a shark from eating something it wants to is a bigger shark or a female shark with real nice shark boobies. Unfortunately, science has yet to figure out how to train massive sharks or female sharks with nice shark boobies to our advantage. Yet.
Check out a guy named Vic Hislop. He's the Aussie version of Quint. Claims the livers are best for running them off. Has one story where there was a trapped whale in a lagoon at low tide with a bunch of tigers and he started killing the tigers then staking their livers on poles in the water around the whale to protect it. Not sure of the validity of the story, but regardless he's a pretty interesting character and he's spent a helluva lot more time on the water dealing with the toothies than 99.9% of the population. Doug always said whale come was the best.
I'd believe Quint before I'd believe Hooper. And these bands are being hucked by a bunch of Hoopers like Popiel's Pocket Fisherman. That being said, I guess any surfers that are afraid of sharks can liberally rub shark liver on themselves before paddling out. I always had a hunch that a biological solution probably existed.
