I got to agree with this. Judging off the first article that was posted with quotes from all the Cape cod locals.... there seems to be a change in seal population and that is important.

This article however seems to only mention the cape cod incident, everything else seems west coast based. Who knows what factors are in play over there. Well, long time west coast locals probably do.

Did some sand reconne whilst down there for the holiday weekend last week. Stay at a place every year with beach access just a half mile up from attack spot. In five years I’ve never brought a bort though. Almost did once, but then Katherine pinged right off Marconi so I said fok it.

The drop from high tide line to low tide is a solid 12-15’ which is correlates to a lot of water coming in on the 9’+ tides up this way. Once the tide begins to come in past the low tide bar the channel files in quick and that water is deep. Seals swim up and down through them chasing fish, inevitably sharks (the “smaller” 12’ ones) do same chasing seals.

Did some more reconne. Tide had been coming in for a while and was only aboot 3+ hrs from high when dude got got, and I wasn’t surprised by this. His bad. Taking all this into account it didn’t surprise me when the kooks I saw blowing drops on some tasty waves only were out at dead low. Seems like at low you’re best off. I’m sure that pattern of channel/bar just repeats itself (as you can see watching the tides go in and out on the bars), but just looked like at low it’s shallow enough, far enough to keep most grey suites away.

So instead of paddling out I snapped some pics of empty waves to post in the empty waves/nature treade, especially a right, that were just reeling off a bar at near high tide. Was hard to watch those empty things, but all things considered, it was worth it. Instead I just took some pics and did some laps around the pond.
