Saw a 1-2 foot black fin way out there this morning (color and size obviously an estimate due to the distance). Seemed like it was a big shark. I dont know much about sharks, any clue what it could have been? I always knew they were there, but seeing one puts things into perspective
Well, that is a big fin. If it was a big shark as thought, you probably would have noticed the tail fin as well, especially if the fin was 1-2 feet out of the water!! If you saw the fin that high up and had a good look, but didn't see the tail fin, then it most likely was not a shark.
At this time of year, two years ago I saw a huge 10+ shark mosey right into the line up right after i got out. This was a big girthy mutha f*cka. One of the bigger ones I've seen for sure (ocean county). There are some bunker (menhaden) starting to run which triggers some action from bigger predators. No worries until your in a sharks mouth (slim chance).
[SUB][/SUB] I take this comment back based on the vid below. Didn't know dolphins swam like this.. hey at least it gave our ankle high session some excitement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uE4sHkrPEKI&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Fishing on the beach Long Branch old USO, Friday 2:00pm, saw the same fin. definetly not a dolphin. Triangular and about 1-2 feet.
Fished this afternoon 'till dark... no sharks... but at least I'm off the schneid with the stripers. Got two at twilight, with rainfish and bass jumping out of the water left and right (a few beaches north of USO). Hated to leave the action, but I couldn't see sh!t.
k i got pumped when a friend told me of this post but got home and read it and you are a re re! i feel like my little 4 year old nephew is describing what he saw... how far knuckle head? pull ya head from ya arse.
oh no not another shark thread!!!sharks in the ocean is as rare as seashells on the sand!!!no wayy!!a 2ft blackfin considering a 20ft great white has a 10inch fin!!maybe he was a whaleshark!!!
