Interesting article. What do you guys think? Is he on to something here? http://www.surfline.com/surf-news/r...sents-a-case-for-safer-coexistence-sh_129291/
Good tread D-SUP. Def think he's on to something - - hope to see progression & progress. The human species can do much better than gigantic marine-life-snuffing shark nets....if it wants to do better.
Did you see the program about the 7 gill shark in NZ? Muh fugger working in packs. In the end the the diver/shark experts decided not to free dive with them anymore. especially at night.
Agree w\ Yank, good stuff DPSup, and the fact they are doing a POC is stellar. Non-lethal way to keep humans safe. Naturally needs a lot more testing, but very interesting to say the least.
Thanks guys, I'm usually pretty skeptical of this type of stuff but this method sounds promising and the logic is sound IMO.
IMHO This is a good idea, but there are still issues. As they said with the tarpon, the fish are hiding from the sharks behind these magnets. Over time could this be just as lethal as a shark net? Additionally, I wonder if these powerful magnets will affect navigation, dapthfinder, or radar systems on boats? and maybe even air planes depending on the size of the magnetic field. If these are such powerful magnets, my mind immediately turns to an electro magnet. What will be the power source? I guess if these systems would only be used in a handful of swimming/surfing beaches around the world, the sharks would just avoid the areas all together and find food elsewhere. so my first point is probably a non issue.
you may be onto something,,,i think it was a magnet that brought down the airplane in the tv show lost
