My buddy was rowing the guard row boat (mind you the boat is about 15') and saw a great white a few feet longer than the boat maybe 1/8 mile past the manasquan inlet jetty
if you're in the water alot and at all observant of what's going on around you you're going to see sharks. take one of the airplane rides over ocmd on a calm day and you'll be amazed how many you see in the water just beyond the swimmers.
