This is a important question all of us surfers need to ask ourselves.

If a shark attacks someone in the lineup are you going to paddle over and help them or are you going to swim to shore?

I surf with a Tourniquet in my pocket ( shoe laces ) it's also a good weapon.

I would like to think if sh*t hits the fan and the water turns red from a brown tip to Great White I'm coming for you. So next time you stink eye someone in the lineup, remember they might have their eye on you.

To set your mind at ease remember sharks usually bite once and get scared off if other surfers paddle over

I was with swimmers and sharks showed up, I did not ditch them, I let them hang off my board and we swam to shore together, I was yelling at them to help paddle because they froze up.

Two men were walking through the woods when a large bear
walked out into the clearing no more than 50 feet in front of them.
The first man dropped his backpack and dug out a pair of running
shoes, then began to furiously attempt to lace them up as the bear
slowly approached them. The second man looked at the first,
confused, and said, "What are you doing? Running shoes aren't
going to help, you can't outrun that bear." Replied the first man, "It's not the bear I need to outrun"...

If a shark attacks I'm hauling ass out of there. I thought that was what cool surfers do

Cool surfers always chum the waters where other surfers are surfing.
Population control. Culling the herd........of moronic surfers.

if it happens while I'm in the water,il probably catch a wave towards the guy getting eaten and jump off my board and do a roundhouse kick to the sharks noggin.

after I knock the shark out with 1 kick,il throw him on my shoulder and paddle in

You do realize your leash works better as a tourniquet than shoelaces....

I've been out when a guy got tugged under by a shark getting caught up in his leash. Saw that he was ok, and caught a couple waves before paddling in.

I prefer shoelaces, the water proof kind, I feel like I can get them tighter than a leash

Have you ever used a tourniquet before? You are supposed to use a stick wrapped in the tourney and twist that vs. just tying it in a knot to actually stop the bleeding

Def would do all I could without making matters worse.

Course, until you're in that situation I doubt you really know what you'd do.

No I don't normally stop heavy bleeding unless it's because I got your girl pregnant.

Let me tie a shoelace around your arm and bet if you left it on you would loose your arm

Well, if I saw a surfer bleeding from a GW bite, I would pull out my 9mm and put the fvcker out of his/her misery.
    Then resume surfing.
And yes, NH is now "constitutional carry" stature. So I carry, open and/or permit required.

A tourniquet is the last resort! Just remember d.e.p.t. Direct pressure, elevation, pressure point, tourniquet! remember when you use a tourniquet, you cut off the blood supply and the tissue starts to die! A lot has to do with how far from real medical help you are.
