Hey anyone gots any info on FT Pierce Jettys? i just moved down to the west coast of florida from The NJ shore.....surf sebastin last weekend very fun, just wanted to know whast up with campin on FT do u know anything?
sharks and florida so ive gathered there is alot of sharks on the east coast ne page for attack stats. how bout the gulf? no shark worries or what? has ne one on swell info ever got bit.....? would u still surf if u took blood thinners? lol if ihatelongboarders is menstrating should he even go in the water, what do most girls do. for real lol. funny but serious....?
Plenty of sharks in the gulf too. The panhandle gets WAY better waves than we do here on the west coast, and they've also had more than their share of shark attacks. It seems that they have a LOT of bull sharks. We have tons of sharks too. I see plenty every time I go fishing.
that is true, bull sharks account for more than 1/2 reported shark attacks around the globe. gulf coast definitely has its fair share of sitings, but not usually very serious attacks/injuries. basically, if your in the ocean, no matter what, your in their territory, if they feel your a threat or possibly the slowest fish they've ever seen, you might get chomped. Ive read that your more likely to get bitten in a group of people than as a solitary figure. but then again, Ive only had close run ins, and they occurred in both situations, surfing alone and surfing in a group, so who's to say either way ?
Here in WFL, on bradenton beach you can see some BIG fish! Fin to tail will bea as long as you, but only see em finnin like this on a S summer swell or hurricane... The clean up cold fronts in spring will have little ones splashin around up top and Shadows all over the bottom when its clear. Had a hammerhead bust through a school of big horse mullet 10 feet from me once and I just layed on my board and didnt move... I just closed my eyes and kept telling myself it'd go away and luckily I had my 7'6 to strech out on. Had no idea the fish were even there.
bottom line is where are all the reported attacks....that is all you need to know and the fact that it can all be irrelevant in a heartbeat when you got a vacuum pipe with teeth trying to suck you down. in my 6+ years since i started paddling out i quit the useless practice of listening to my short hairs and began relying on experienced advice. sure we all see sharks and yes it is unnerving and if you don't "DO" anything to provoke an attack tell us what is going to happen...??the biggest danger out there is YOU to yourself. andif your smart don't surf in areas where they chum the water with guts(Juno Pier )because history shows you will get mistook for a big piece of bait(fishing an Surfing areas need to be separate places ,i got more problems snagging line & you know where i want to shove the guys beer bottle) . this just my opinion but when you see that little speck on the outside where you are too afraid to go. that speck will be me and others who like to save their worrying for the sharks on shore.
Watch Shark Week on Discovery.......Year after year, Florida beaches continue to be THEE #1 deadliest place to swim/surf. We're known as the Shark Attack capital of the world!!!!! Stay away from the edge of the reef, where the shelf drops off into the deeper ocean. They hang out there to chow down on the smaller reef life. Also, Bull Sharks come in really close and are very territorial and will **** your **** up! Have fun Brah......See you at the pier!!!!
SHARK UPDATE Due to the current economic climate & Florida's mortgage crisis, the sharks have all left Florida & gone back up north to Jersey to live with their parents. So everything is cool now.
Seaside Heights Xmas day... this guy lost it all. 4,500sq/ft house, wife, kids, job.... They almost made him turn in the grey suit, too. Tragic
