Should I Get the Motor Boat Too?

if it felt good to you than thats all that should matter.

 

I have the original Motor Boat.. I love it. Best board I have ever ridden.

 

i was at the demo on saturday and rode one, a 5'5" with a rounded pin. i definitely don't ride my shortboards that small, but the guys said it's meant to be ridden short, and that's how big rob rides his anyway. it also had these huge fcs g-am fins on it.

overall it was a really fast, high performance board and i didn't expect it to be anything like that. i was able to get into waves relatively easily considering the size, and as soon as i stood up it would just fly down the line. the rounded pin tail held exceptionally well in steeper parts of the wave, and just when it felt like i was going to slide out, the board held. where i was surfing the waves were chest high+ and i caught a set or two that were head high to overhead. they weren't the best conditions but i'm sure the board would be awesome in big clean waves.

as far as actually buying one, i never buy off the rack brands like channel islands (way too expensive for a board that isn't even made to your specifics) but if i could find a shaper to remake it i would. it does however seem like a difficult shape to replicate because i feel like any small adjustment to the foil or rocker would through the whole board off. see if you can find one used, but if not i guess if you like it enough just pick one off the rack.

 

It ends up costing the same in the end because a used half to death CI will still sell for 200-300 bucks in no time flat- at least that's my experience.

 

never really thought about it like that, i guess you're right but that's if you're looking to eventually get rid of the board and by then who know what'll be popular
