The thread with the guy looking for a way to put a board on top of his ride got me thinking about all the different ways it can be done. Rather than just the cheapo ways in the other thread, let's see everyone's racks!

Simple, elaborate, screwed directly to your roof, it doesn't matter. Post it here!

My girlfriend got me a really nice set of racks+pads for my birthday (thanks for the advise Hayduke), but I still haven't decided on how to actually attached the board to the rack. Hopefully you guys will show me the way.

I'm stuck at the office so I'll post pics of what I have when I get outta here.

i have a 4 door tacoma and slapped some yakima racks on the cab, although I dont use them that often. Most of my short boards fit snugly in a board bag diagonally across the bed. It is nice when the wife and kids all go to the beach and it leaves the bed free for beach carts, coolers, etc. However, for as much as they cost and as little as I use them, looking back it might have been smarter to just get soft racks for when I needed them and just use the bed the rest of time. If you think you'll need the bed frequently, then yakima or thule are the way to go imo.

Standard roof racks on my Highlander, and a long piece of 1/2" braided nylon rope (an old halyard off one of my boats). Cost? Free.

Ghetto as he11, but holds up to three boards stacked with towlies between.

As promised, here's my rack. Don't get too excited fellas...

    roof rack.jpg

I love this rack. Was at least $300 cheaper than the thule/yakima offerings, went on relatively easy, and seems to be very solid. I can grab it and rock the hell out my car with no movement at all from the racks. Came with locks and everything. Bought it off Amazon prime so it was at my house in 48 hours which is always awesome.

All I need are some of those straps Gaff posted and i'm set!

For the guys thinking about putting racks on the roofs of their pickups, Inno racks might be a solid option. solid enough to safely transport gear, but cheap enough to justify getting even if you only use them occasionally.
