My older son passed this 400 page book to me today and said he couldn't put it down. The movie comes out next month, and I've been looking forward to seeing it. My brother met Mr. Zamperini on several occasions during events held in Torrance, CA. In the early 70s, when my brother and I were running HS track and x-country, Torrance HS was one of the schools we regularly competed against. This thread is very similar to one from last year. Steinbeck, Hemingway, Faulkner, Michener, Twain, and Vonnegut are among my favorites. For light reading before turning out the light, I've enjoyed most of Louis L'Amour's westerns. Books and articles on nature, geology and paleontology, art history, religion, American history, baseball and football. Currently reading a book on music as a refresher on how to read music. The Bible is a book I read, reread, and refer to.
My favorite author is Jack Kerouac, with that being said On The Road is my all time favorite book. Dharma Bums is another of my favs by him. Although surf related, I really enjoyed all 3 of Allan C. Wiesbeckers books. In Search of Captin Zero seems to be his most popular, but after reading his first 2 books I really really enjoyed the third, Cant You Get Along With Anyone. Gets a little slow a little before the half way point, but it's worth it. Vonnegut is good I like The Rules of Attraction by Bret Easton Ellis Jeffery Dhamers dad has a book called A Fathers Story. I found it interesting, I'm kind of into serial killers though, Dhamers my fav. The Electric Kool Aid Acid test, forget who wrote that That's all I can think of at the moment

Amen. I am well impressed. 'Tard, that was a heck of a list. My favorite surf book -- "Tapping the Source" by Kem Nunn. And I can't believe nobody put Pynchon on here. Inherent Vice . . . yeah.
