Experiencing a dry spell with many tired old threads sputtering along on life support. Maybe it's a matter of "life happens", and other priorities intervene.
Welp, Sun Bather Bob came back! If only we can get South Jetty Bill back here and gruvi, too, maybe we'd really be back in business! Okay, I kid about that. Well, maybe not about Gruvi, dude was the GOAT! I'd love to post more, myself, but I've been working 60-70 hours a week, sometimes more. That will be a constant for me, until mid to late April. Except for a few days around Christmas, and 4-5 straight days off in February. Usually with just one day off per week. I've gotten a few generous days off in the past week, which is more than I thought I'd be getting. This forum used to be a source of entertainment, even just to read. Sucks that many of the great ones have disappeared.
I would be interested in the number of site visits now, compared to before the outdoorhub takeover. This entire site is not what it used to be, that is for sure.
What happened to Seldom? Did he burn out like EmassSpicoli? Barry, if you need something else to get you off on the internet, just search "Sheep butts" on google images.
Looks like the forum has taken Uncle 2 Barrel's advice and Killed Itself. Will I get an infarction for writing that?
yes...have fl.surfdogg send me 6 of his pictured beauties and the world will never hear from me again!!
There's people who aren't on here b!tching because they're happy... the summer heads are out of the lineup, there's been waves every day for the past month, and the "clinics" are open 24-7. Then there's people who aren't here because they're hurting... having been hit by a hurricane, or are busy helping out others who have. Maybe that's it?
Last 10 days I have surfed every day except one (too tired). Sometimes early, sometimes mid-day. Always with no crowds. I love work and school--I hope you all do, because I don't have to do either anymore, and it keeps all of you morons out of the water. Bwahahahahahaha!!
hugh hefner just died but I don't think a treade for him would be wise,as that is adult content and we all know we're a bunch of 13 yr olds on here
Last time I posted on one of your posts Barry. I got banned. I think the post was Dead Forum. Crazy how much this place has changed. Long live south jetty bill. Best post-er ever
I've posted this before but the forume traffic is just a fraction of the site traffic. How many people were out surfing in RI over the past week? Let's say hundreds. How many are posting on here of just that slice, 2-3? I bet many of the rest are checking the forecast here and that's the brunt of the traffic that supports the site. So sure, the forum may or may not be down in the views but this isn't where the money is.
The spot on forecasts are what drives traffic to the site, agreed. This here forum is probably a front by the feds to incite and round up agitators and miscreants. O Barry is the OP. ...Coincidence? As they say in the Motherland, "Nyet".
That's a good point. Almost all of my friends who surf, use the forecasting part of the site. Yet, none of them actually use the forum. Be it for lack of time, or just not being the type to post on internet forums. I think my buddy down in Jacksonville, Florida has an account here, and has posted a few times. It's been a while though. I have a friend that's older, like late 60's and down in Bradenton Beach, Florida. He's a friend of the family. He surfs whenever he can on the Gulf and takes cross state trips to the Atlantic Coast. He said he considered making an account to post, but he was banned from another forum for seemingly little (a non-surfing forum) and thinks his behavior would get him banned here haha.
this. unlike most forums, this site will hang in there regardless coz it serves another purpose - providing a decent surf forecast. peeps who are whining about the state of the forum are just barking at the moon.
I think some people are just kind of bored with the state of the forum, and expulsion of some of our veteran posters, and I don't blame them for that. Not too long ago, if I didn't check this place for 12 hours, the last unread post/thread would be like either at the bottom of the first page or at the top of page 2. I kind of miss the more active forum, even if just to lurk.
You and Wavestrom make good points. I like to post on internet forums, but most of my friends who surf don't. Maybe just a case of confusing MY world with THE world.
