Yo everyone i got my caps on and im going to the secret spot with 1000 of my closest summer only gold chain wearing spongers with jersey shore trash girlfriends see ya there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tell that to the people who lose everything from these storms, including their life sometimes. I have never evacuated but in 33 years I don't think a direct hit has happened where I live, always get the outer bands. I would leave at Cat 3 or higher if it was a direct hit. Most people around FL stay home for 2 and under typically but nothing wrong with being safe about it.
I hear ya, I just don't wanna see the boo hooing and crying on here like after Sandy. It was tragic. Nobody needs to have that happen to them if they can avoid it. Anyways, my warning won't matter, people will be stubborn and be another statistic.
I always compare hurricanes to hurricane Katrina.that was the real deal a cat 5 that put telephone poles underwater.I personally never evacuated,i have no where to go,and I have a big mean dog and id rather die with my dog than leave him at home and go to a shelter. I don't think any houses are built up to code.sandy taught us a lesson.its all about how close u are to the beach.im a 15minute walk from the beach.i thought all the hype with sandy was bullshyt and I was proven wrong.personally I didn't think sandy was that bad,i still lost 3 cars, the first floor of my house, and a bunch of other shyt.bumper cars and vending machines floated past my house.i seen the street go from dry to 5 ft of water in 15 minutes.i remember 10 am Monday morning,i think it was sunday or Monday,it wasn't even high tide and the dunes were gone. my biggest thing with canes, the real warning, when u see whitewater coming down the street, its time to get the hell out of dodge.i don't know where all the water came from in sandy, there was no rain, but 5 feet of water that looked like sewage. anyway this storm doesn't look that bad or good.forecast is far from epic, and if it happens to make landfall I wouldn't be worried
If I lived in OBX, I would be worried. Most hurricanes affect them in one way or another, and this is yet another one that will be cat 2 that will run them right over and dance on the whole area. People there could for sure come back to a lot of destruction. Year after year, it makes me truly wonder how long that area is going to stay intact before a nasty cat 5 does irreparable damage. They may not necessarily evacuate for this one, but I would if I lived in an area like that. Pets, a 2 year old daughter. Sh** can get outta control on a little stretch of sand like that. Hopefully its just heavy rain.
Comply with hurricane codes you say? Most modern homes are built out of wood studs with plywood/sheetrock walls. If you want something that can really take a beating and just shrug it off check out the house pictured below (pretty sure this is the right house and it's in pensacola florida, I remember reading about it in an architectural article a year or two ago): It's a concrete dome with steel reinforcements where the structures design will allow high winds to pass right over it and through it. Think how a car is more aerodynamic compared to an 18 wheeler, same concept applies to standard house design to this house. If I ever have the money to have my own home constructed it's going to practically be a damn castle that will scoff at storms l
it will be, should be clean consistent waist high lines coming in until the swell spikes around 5-6PMish
In a Cat 3, the walls start to vibrate, very scary. Roofs start to peel off and the ceilings cave in -- def evacuation in Cat 3--- plus, the whole community gets seriously F-d up, lawless, no power for weeks, little food and drink for days, all the stoplights are out so driving is ridiculous, Mosquitos everywhere, it's like a war zone. If you can afford to leave for a week, that's a great plan. --there are tornados embedded in those hurricanes. Hanna, my home was built well. But it was totally ruined in 2004 with Jeanne, a Cat 3. It was unreal:99% of the homes in town had to have tarps on the roof after Jeanne to the point that kids' drawings of houses always had a blue roof.
Yeah I would rather die in my own home because i'm too "proud" than leave for a week just to be safe. Your an idiot. Stay in your home though thats how natural selection works.
Had a great time here in SC with Arthur today and wish the same to the comrades north as the Hurricane Arthur churns up the coast. A bit disorganized early but, when the wind backed around offshore it cleaned up well and that happened about a few hours before high tide. Hope we don't have to wait the length of June to get another decent swell.
Most likely, ok, definitely not needed, but never hurts to pull the ole Billy Baroo out of the basement, just in case. A $140 souvenir from the North Shore years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJPg1Fivmqg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLS5t0NdtRI Ryan
just got out of the water in LBI, had a couple nice rides, 3-4-5ft range, N winds are slopping it up, there is some serious upwelling though much colder then last weekend. Hoping to see it clean up in the morning, looks like some nasty weather is coming through overnight.
Yeah, we got it pretty ideal today. Every set wave, with any size to it, barreled. I haven't seen lips hold up like that since I have moved here. Most legit barrels i have had in this state for sure.
Got my gun ready - this is the 50 year storm braaaaaaahzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I'm surfing in the middle of the cane because I'm hardcore and ****
