    Guys.

Ive been hitting the skatepark a little this week.

I can pump I can turn frontside and backside. flow back and forth until my legs fall off. The ramp im on i dont feel comfortable dropping in on although i probably could. I can make the roll ins but dont know what to do with the speed at the other end because i never skated copings before.

    thoughts? advice on body mechanics?

    cheers,
    bubs

Dropping in is all about commitment. Just lean over the front of the board and focus on slamming your front foot into the ramp. You can "suck up" as much speed as you want at the bottom of the transition by bending your knees so you don't go flying off the other end.

Get in position, lean over the nose, and slam that foot! You only have to do it once and you'll have it forever.

Just remember, going over the front of the board as ALWAYS better than going off the back.

    Good luck!

thanks headhigh.....and everyone else for the input lol

I hear you on the commitment thing I know that and i can drop in. but there is no point because ill just fly off the other end.

"""""""""""""""You can "suck up" as much speed as you want at the bottom of the transition by bending your knees so you don't go flying off the other end. """"""""""

thats the chit im looking for thanks

don't forget, concrete isn't as forgiving as water.when u drop in,put all ur weight on ur front foot,do not lean back lol!!!u have to lean into it,its better to fall forward then to fall backwards and split ur head open in the bowl.its all in the knees and ankles

thirty five years ago when I learned to drop in, I wish I wasn't too cool to wear a helmet! Commitment is the right word. My first 5 attempts left me with nice bumps, lacerations, probable concusion, drain bamage... but I got it when I stomped on the nose and leaned forward... What's the length of the pipe bottom? I can't imagine flying out the other side without some major pumping.

commit, lean forward, and bend your knees thats it
dont drop in like a stiff boner. get that image in your head and you'll be airin the coping in no time

    Get some knee pads
    learn to bail
don't hesitate, slap your tail on the coping, just drop in
if you hesitate, you'll either lean to far over the front truck, fall forward, or lean back and fall backward
hesitation allows overthinking it and fear

    good luck

How tall is this ramp? You can always start pumping from the bottom to get yourself used to the height and ramp transition. When you do get to actually dropping in, even though you have speed, you can dramatically change that when you get to the other side by some body weight shifts. Meaining, don't pump, just drop in.

HA HA, I remember the fist time I dropped in on a ramp. It was a 6 foot 1/4 pipe but didn't have any vert, (I guess between a wedge ramp and 1/4 pipe). It was about 9:00pm and some other skaters from another neighborhood were there and they had Suicidal Tendencies on this big a$$ radio. I am standing at the top of the ramp and one of the guys goes, "Just get suicidal". LMAO I remember thinking, "just STFU, I am trying to drop in". I finally did it and that was that. I started building ramps at my house and skated everyday.
Here is a ramp I built at my house. Thats me gettin a little air time and then another smaller ramp I had

Then I tried this for a minute... Someone threw my sheet in the highway so I quit

Learn your basic rock to fakie/tail stall combo. This should help:

    word.

Thnx all. I dont know if i clarified I can drop in i just dont because i cant rock to fakie and shizzz so theres no point. I kinda was just looking for little tid bits that helped get you to the next level.

Mets>Yanks but bubz loves em both.

just going to keep practicing putzing around the ramps and flowing around a little with more speed i spose. im no there yet. bubz knows his limits.
