So I took a week and went to Islamorada with the kids . After arriving with the boat and all the fun things to pull behind it I decided to introduce the kids to skurfing( I guess I could have introduced them to worse things). I thought I would go first , not having done this in 30 years I was surprised how easy it was to get right up and go. Well having teen aged kids and the huge ego's that come with that , they thought if I could do it then they could do it and do it better. So after hours of them trying it their way which we all know is the best way(wink , wink) they swallowed their pride and asked me for a few tips. After I picked myself up from the deck where I had fallen after being asked for advice from my own kids I gave them the usual advice and we all had a great time. Although it is nothing like surfing and more like skiing it was still fun to be upright on a board in mid July in Florida... The old dog teaching the pups a few new tricks !
Skurfing is so fun. I have not done since teenage years. Last summer, some kids were doing it behind my house in the creek on an NSP 8'. I thought man, they would have so much more fun on a short board. Also, reminds me of another board/bored session we would do as kids. Took an old board and made a rope swing. So fun to fly out and right when your about at the top throw out a killer maneuver!
Did some surfing off the back of my buddy's boat yesterday. It's the best! Great way to practice throwing buckets
