through surfing the boards I have/had I realllly like the tri fin on bigger waves. I feel way more in-control at high speed and can also do smoother cutbacks and re-entries at a smaller turning radius. As to my quad I kind of just lose control on some of the hard turns im trying and just slip out. But on medium to small waves my quad is just perfect, it does pick up more speed than my tri fin and I can really move up and down on the face well. im def gunna look around at some boards at local shops and hopefully pick up a new sled soon

I agree with the hold in bigger waves on a thruster. Rode a quad during the well OH Bertha swell and did not like it. The morning chest and up leftovers for Bertha I split session between quad and thruster and my performance was by far better on tri-fin. You can always go 5 boxes on a stick you like bro. Then it will be your go-to in all size waves.

I think most of them at the US Open at Huntington were on thrusters. Those waves were fairly small and obviously very weak. CJ Hobgood was on a quad and surfed well. Jordy was on a thruster and made it all the way to the QF...and that guy is pretty big. Kelly would've been on a quad...if he didn't bail for Teahupoo.
