Surfed the home break tonight with the wahine and it was 3ft at 8 with light texture. Very calm so she was stoked since it's only her fifth time on the water. Breakthrough sesh for her as she caught 10 rides in 2 hours with me and a couple were down the line for several seconds. She likes the 9-fotter. Took out my recently repaired 5'6 bat tail made by Evolved out of Honeyton. It's got channel rails (like Stretch) and 5-channel bottom with 5 boxes. Messed around tonight and threw large quads in it with a center fun from a large Futures set. Would've thrown a nub in but I've only got them for FCS. Was still able to rip it a bit and it promptly responded to turns and snaps. I'm sure the fin experts here will say I ruined my rides by doing it but spice is the variety of life, or something like that. Oh yeah, the 5'6 is also 22" wide and I think between 2.6 and 2.75" thick. The tail on my board is similar but more bat tail-ish than the pic on Evolved's IG site here: https://instagram.com/p/cPrmgevglp/ I think we talked about that company a couple years back. Never knew their prices on new boards til I looked them up tonight - only $290-$350! Even for an 8-fotter. That's a lot of foam for the price. Anywayz, my point was that small waves can be a blast, and a great workout too. Especially when they're clean and have at least a minimum of punch, and you're not spending lots of time and energy duck-diving through mad messy sets. 2-3ft and clean can be great practice and it's definitely conditions of choice to bring a lady out in. Unless she straight rips, which is even better. In the absence of sic tropical swell, looks like the rest of this week could be decent with stoke here. Hope you cats got on something good today.
WOW A+ SESSION!!! didn't quite deserve its own thread tho http://www.swellinfo.com/forum/show...as-been-surfing-this-week&p=349586#post349586
i love small wave days. thigh thigh highs can be fun if they've got some juice behind em! belly high waves are my absolute favorite!
Settle down, grommet. I looked through my iPhone 7 several times for that tread but there's a lot of weird ones filling the forum this week. Stick to letting your parents sponsor your surfing on family trips and the rest of us will do our thing.
Congrats on the fun session with the woman!! Buddy called me sat and told me how fun it was, but I was already locked into errands. Hoping Monday morning gives me a little something
I love small waves, prefer waist to chest over anything bigger. Most bigger days around here are pretty crappy. I would even take a clean knee to thigh over an intense overhead day. It's fun to rip apart small waves with no consequences. Loved big surf when I was younger but the older I get the more fun I have on the smaller mellow days.
What a superfun day you had Emass. That's my favorite size wave -- big enough for a thrill, not so small that it's too shallow. You've been with this woman a while now. She must be pretty great
Glad you scored, Emass! I'm back to the grind after a great summer of surfing everything from ankle mush to head high on a couple occasions. Now it will be once a month trips again 'till June... Did a lot of reading on surf addiction and the blue and red mind. I'm still not going to win any contests, but I think I upped my game... shear repetition.
Longest flat spell I can remember for me. clean waist high would be fine by me. I prefer, actually insist, no d*ck regardless of dimensions. To each their own. No judgement.
