I find the best relation to doing a snap on a surfboard would be doing like a powerslide on a skateboard. Especially if you keep your back foot on the kicktail and turn sooo hard that it slides. other than that it's all timing
its all about using your shoulders. steer with your shoulders and most times the board will follow. also, cutting out and hiting the wave at the peak where its breaking helps a lot. just watch how the pros do it. surfline.com has a trick tips video section that helps a lot.
you have to also really put alot of weight on your front foot as you start the turn. that creates a pivot point and frees up the fins.
powerslide is like a sharp stop or turn thing. its hard to explain. also manuver back a little and than shift forward fastly. i cant explain it very well if only i had a camera
a powerslide is when you turn hard or throw your back foot out on a skateboard and this cause the wheels to lose grip from the ground or skid out and the board turns and stuff depending on which style of powerslide you did
its all about the bottom turn as soon as you hit the bottom of the wave. bend you knees and got low then start up the face. when you get to the top snap your shoulders and your hips at the same time
