I snapped one of my fins clean off yesterday and I need to take out the very little fin that's in the box. It's only a few millimeters sticking out. How would I take that out without messing up my fin box or my board?
Just a guess, but I'd consider putting it in an air-conditioned room for a while & take a drill bit to the thicker end. Insert a screw and use it to pull it out.
i tried both of those but neither worked, it was really in there. But I drilled a bunch of holes in it and eventually got it out in 2 pieces. And the best part is that my fin box was perfectly fine. Thanks for the help though, i kinda used both of your ideas to get it out lol
I'll bet its not FCS..those plugs roll over in the foam before the fin snaps. Done SO many repairs like that. I'll bet it IS Futures...all my boards have Futures setups, and when i've broken fins its exactly the scenario the guy described...fins snaps just above the base with no damage to the box. Isnt FCS the one that always claimed the tabs will break and leave the plugs intact? Maybe ive jsut seen a lot of improper FCS installs...who knows.
yeah they were futures. I had the black stix too so I'm kinda upset about that. But my buddy is giving me a set of tech flexes for $40 so it's all good
At least you don't have a major ding repair on top of that lost fin... Some glass shops in Cali 'forget' to patch the fin box area and boxes roll over on the first impact with something (beach, rock, ass cheek) ~Brian www.greenlightsurfsupply.com Shape Your Surfing Experience
