Ended up going out for the cement. The roads are deteriorating and we have to be getting an inch per hour now.

micah - how is swell able to make it past these 30 mph w winds to us without being blown out? is it from a large enough fetch from the north? or is the west wind localized over our area? i haven't been looking at any weather maps/models, towit im being lazy/genuinely curious. I know this low is north east of us but the roomies and i are debating how and why we are able to get swell without it being blown flat.

ya, I'd say, the storm strengthened, where as you almost have a closed circulation - like a hurricane. Where even tho is is howling offshore, enough N/NE fetch developed from the north.

Really challenging to predict how much will make it into the swell window.

Man this wet snow sucks to shovel compared to powder. I just took a hot shower and ate some Advils. I know one thing, I'll sleep tonight. :)

Damn I have an extra one I'd lend ya. Now I'm worried about the sagging tree limbs in my backyard. Hopefully the branches aren't dried out.

as long as the power doesn't go out, I'm good. I'm sure some kind neighbor will lend me a shovel.

But, ya, this snow is so heavy, with all the ice and freezing rain mixed in.

Yea... and it looks like the swells are getting smaller with each storm. This one's gonna be even smaller than the last. Maybe a longboard wave...
