...and no one else showed up. Tom and Richie Lovett were on a tour through the states with some new boards and designs.
They came to Chauncey's on Friday in OCMD - less than 10 people came out to meet him - A F***ING LEGEND -- and no one shows up. Disappointed in the local "surf community" here, where you guys at?? Saw more kids show up last summer for a Beater boards demo.. Smh.

On the plus side, it was great talking board design, global surf spots, east coast Australia, and just to talk story almost one-on-one with an absolute LEGEND in the surf world. Richie was a super chill dude too, check his back story. Resilient dude.

Did people know he was coming? Also, don't forget Tom was a star back when I started surfing.......in 1982......long before most of today's surf shop rats were even born.

Maybe, just maybe, others did not care to come out because they are not into idol worship as you are??
Now, if they cured cancer, or solved world hunger, then maybe.......but monkeys on fiberglass....??? Is it because they are "sponsored"?

    +1

It's Tom Carroll dude. He's not even one of my favourite stand-ups but I'd go to meet him if I had the opportunity.

Did he offer up any tweak? Just kidding.

I wonder how many people would show up for surfers like Joey Buran, Owl Chapman or Larry Bertlemann. Just sayin'

Watching surf flicks is not for me at all--it is a very gay activity.
    No thanks....

Exactly. It's kinda like, you gotta just go and chat with the dude.
And yeah, it was advertised but I think it came up a little last minute - it just wasn't pushed real hard on the socialwebs.
