    The fin is designed to be as stiff as possible, I do flex fins also but they are of a different shape and use glass or carbon fibre for the flexible base.

    Fin flex is only necessary in long boards which lack sufficient convergence angle between the rail and the fin... 'hulls' are an example.

    Also most flex fins bend in the wrong plane.
