Not to be negative. Social media is one of the lamest things to happen to "surfing" in a long time. Yes the ability to communicate is awesome but, wow, the over-romanticism of surfing is at an all time high because of SM. I see so many local pros on snapchat or instagram posting their generic cryptic messages..... "early bird gets the worm" "view from the other side" How about I went surfing today and got barreled? or the waves are good and im happy? Its all this cryptic wanna be surfline jargon. Really social media has paved the way for the non-pro pro generation. Kids who are really good surfers get all caught up in social media hype and it almost seems like they just surf for the instagram followers. It makes so many kids (who will be eventually having to get real jobs) act like such hot shots and YES I have noticed a difference since social media gained steam. Thoughts? Discussions?
I don't agree. I have not noticed a difference. Only that they post pics because that's how they make money. If I find someone annoying I don't look at their pics. Problem solved
I've been a member for 7 years. I've posted 2,700 times. I've got hobbies bruther. Prozac? No. I don't think I'm really negative. A little constructive negativity or discussion/thought provoking is all i try to create. I don't want your thoughts on me you homo.
whats lame is they'll only show a second of the waves.walkin down the beach towards the water, yet u cant see the water lol.i just got on ig and I see these little videos at the top.dont know how they work but u watch it once and they disappear. cool thing is tho I see a lot of pics of the past stella swell.i think I follow 2 pro surfers lol,i follow the photogs.cant tell the difference between any of them, whos an amateur and whos a pro,but they all post good a$$ pics so I don't complain. I agree tho the videos are usually gay
I follow clay polioni and brett barely, only 2 surfers.clays shyt is extra gay because I think hes a supermodel lol,i believe he really is,im sure someone can confirm.i feel a lot of his pics are for girls, guys shouldn't be viewing it lol cause I feel pretty gay after seeing some of his posts lol
insert "the world" instead of surfing. it all depends on what you choose to look at though. some photogs arecocks and try to be real sick and same with surfers obviously. everybody wants to be better than the next post-er. taking the gram off your phone for a while is something i recommend if it pisses you off. some stuff hypes me up like seeing shots from past swells especially if its near where i was or i can relate to it. other stuff is gay like tomy ihnken and the modeling, semi pro hot shots of the area. id say theres cool dudes like gleason or hammer though who just put up a pic of a beast and say "day to remember" etc.
yew. its def something that is worth using in moderation (for most people). it drove me nuts at first but as lame as it sounds im glad i learned self control and stopped getting caught up in what others are doing
let me start by saying when I was young we played outside all day everyday! we found ways to entertain ourselves even on bad days! my brother and I were never overweight and played a lot of sports! we has ATARI back then and played at night before bed! these days I cant get my 2 girls off the fugging coach and away from their phones! snap chat, facebook, ect. this shatt is responsible for our obese and lazy arss kids these days! everyone announcing every shatt they take! I don't belong to any of those by choice! no one uses the phone to say hi anymore and its become so ridiculous! there will be harmful health effects from neck to eye balls! go outside and play you lazy, non imagination son of a bitc4!
Red dog nailed it. I'm 27.... young. EVERYONE my age has multiple social media accounts. I have none. I honestly feel like it's the down fall of mankind. I could go on and on and on with reasons why. But I'll spare you. I'll just leave it at this. I enjoy going out and actually living my life, real experiences. I actually met up with kanman29 this weekend and told him that swell info is my social media. Thing is at least swell info got me out meeting other surfers, finding new spots in diffrent states, things that i can actually experience. As far as the surfing side of social media, i can't comment since i don't have any social media. I will say though that some of my friends will text me screenshots from local photogs after a big swell sometimes. That can be cool to see, especially since a few times i was the guy in the picture. But still not cool enough for me to make any accounts and follow anybody or whatever its called. One last thought. What's really sad, i get left out of the loop on so many things. My buddy gets engaged.... everyone knows from social media. I don't. No one texts or calls to fill me in. If it's posted on social media its assumed everyone knows. Well i don't see it. I find it sad that people would rather post on social media than to reach out to there friends. Instead i have to find out from random people who aren't REAL friends with me or my buddy. Similar things have happened multiple times.
Man you should be banned by now for your homophobic and violent speech! now your making fun of the mentally disabled ! You can't say 'retarded' in a civil world ! Blame Swellinfo.com. It's doing that on the automatic...the double posts that is ! Hey anti-social media types...! Uh, what do you think you are doing here ! but this is different this is a surfing website ! Oh............................................................!
