They will always be hamstringed by their equipment by its very nature. Performance sups are getting smaller and more performance oriented but there will come a point where it isn't floaty enough to stand on while stationary or paddling at low speeds. Basically, "performance sup'ing" is a dead end road. A 5' something tater chip is the highest performance surf craft out there and you sure as hell can't stand on one and paddle it with an oar.

Very well put. I would rather spend hours a week. rehabbing and training to surf like god intended us to do. If he wanted us to SUP we would all be born with twin bladed paddles and va jay jays.

I mean I get it when old fat dudes do it. I still think its lame as hell but as long as they're not taking every wave (although they usually are, but that's a different topic) I don't really care. What I don't get is this newer trend of young seemingly fit guys trying to "rip" on a sup. Its like a monkey trying to **** a football. I really don't get it.

so far its a united front against sup's .Which was expected . But i kinda have to give some respect , Shiz some of those guys were paying some heavy tolls . That first sense when that guys paddling over the face of that monster . Then playing the roll of skippy all the way down that wave . I don't care if I i have 9'6 pin tail gun or a jet ski and a tow board . All that equipment would be sitting on the beach with me . Or in the garage where it belongs that day . As for the mop and race boards i really don't care for it .

It's trendy to hate on sups.

I hate sups at crowded breaks.

If you can't respect what those guys are doing in that video idk what to say. They charge.

    sups are a different breed.
one that (seem to) give up easy.

if i'm lookin at getting bonked by that....
    i'd go in sooner too.

I think we can all agree that these are not the SUPs that we hate. I'm sure these guys have some respect and knowledge of surf etiquette and probably stay closer to the inside just like surfers.

I hate the fat guys that I think are going to kill me. I hate the athletic guys who catch waves way outside, only go frontside, and kick out right after they go by me where the wave gets critical and fun. These are the ones we all know and hate.

I believe I mentioned before in another thread, as the Super goes by, grab their leash and YANK!! They will come crashing down, completely bewildered. Wave to them, using but one finger....
