Nice Brew. No secret, just no access. The navy bombs the sh!t outta that place so most of the time it's off limits. Long boat ride and super sharky.
Its actually a bit more north than your guess. Is Rockaway. No not the east coast version. Not mid winter tho, early october. The first pic of mine is way more north, well bout an hour or so up from SF. On the Sonoma Coast. That one was prob from winter tho.
Sonoma is rad. A certain rivermouth up there goes looney. World class dredging barrels. Not surfed too often... it's the sharkiest place ever. One of those spots where your as good as bitten.
This rivermouth never gets surfed either. There's been a few brutally bloody attacks here over the years. Nobody wants anything to do with it. Maybe the sharkiest spot in CA. Deep native vibe as well. I wish pictures could show how insanely heavy this wave is. My pics of it are when its really small and soft. Ultra powerful spot. Comes outta deep water and slams a really shallow sandbar as the river is rushing into it.
Oh dude I wish...the wave pics are RI, but that bottom one is CT...Hammonasset, aside fromthe lack of waves, it's a really cool beach...then there's this morraine trail where people build weird shelters and cairns and stuff. Every time I go there's something new, it's like there are underpants gnomes there or something.
