About three weeks ago I was surfing at CB and a bunch of finger mullet were jumping, then they turned into a fish oil slick as a school of blues started chewing them up. I could hear those little bastages chomping. Paddled away and counted my fingers and toes and continued to surf.

Couple of times a shark, small ones, bumped my leg when I was walking board out.

Once something bit through my neoprene on my knee, left a hole in the suit and left just a mark on the skin, walking board out again.

Another time, again, walking out the board in shallow water something put it's mouth around my foot, I could feel the teeth but it didn't bite in as I shook the foot frantically.

I heard there's a restaurant in New Smyrna that gives you a free lunch if you're bitten by a shark.

Oh, I know... But, the waves were pumping that day!
I've never seen as much marine life anywhere as I had when I was living in Central Florida.

Don't rule out a manatee. I've seen them in the lineup this time of year.

You might want to start paddling as soon as your fins clear the sand/coquina. Sounds like the fishes have a thing for you. :)

I got a strange one. Happened earlier this summer. Was out one day on my LB. Chest/head high, dark skies, on and off down pours. I paddled for a wave, then backed off it for whatever reason. So I go to paddle back into a better position. As I'm sitting back on the tail and whipping the board back towards the line up I kick something big. Felt like a human. Like I kicked some one with a buzzed haircut in the head. Immediately after the kick something bumped the bottom of my board with a decent amount of force then a quick splash behind me then nothing. Didn't see anything.

The really strange thing is a few days later I'm talking to one of the guys in the parking lot before a session and I tell him this story. Turns out he had something big bump him with allot of force in the same spot I was on the day after I had my bump. He bodyboards, so he tells me whatever it was hit him right across the front of both his thighs. Don't remember if he said it left a bruise or if he said he was surprised it didn't bruise. Point is it was more then just a gentle bump. Spooky stuff

Whoa bassmon, that would freak me out a little. Did you lie down and keep your hands and feet on your long board after that?

Yeah Ofcourse....for like 10 minutes haha. It's funny how when the waves are fun and something strange happens, how quickly you get over it.

Lest any of us forget, things that go bump under the water live there full time and pretty much do what they want whenever they want. We are the invasive species.

About 3 years ago just paddling out I saw a six footer cruising the base of a wave. Surfed about 20 mins. and it was hot out so I rolled off into the water to cool off. Hadn't been in the water 2 mins. when I dunked under and something rammed my arm with great force. I shot up out of the water onto my board and hit the beach. Never saw what hit me but my arm was black and blue from the middle of my bicep to my wrist.

One time in SPRING......in COROLLA........in NORTH CAROLINA...........I GOT OFF WORK

    at 7:30 am.

I went for a surf in Ocean Sands - Section H I J, by my domicile.

It was two foot offshore BS.

Then it became two foot onshore BS ten minutes after I hit the water.

    I was high on weed.

I got off my board and was just floating in a diagonal position in the chest deep water, as the waves bored me and I was high on weed..

BOOM !!! Something with some girth hit me and lifted me up.

    Then nothing.

    I thought I was hit..

THE ADRENALINE SHOOTING THROUGH MY BODY WAS AMAZING. I wish I could bottle that sh!t.....

I paddled the 15 yards to shore like mad man.........

    Didn't see a nothing.........

I checked and I was not bit.

I went home and I know why.....

    Because I was high...because I was high..........

Learned to surf on the Gulf, had the Ray thing happen and it was scary as hell the first time...the school of them stuck their fins up and rode the wave I was paddling for. Surfed Ponce Inlet a few times and always saw little sharks. Worst ever was just north of Bodega Bay, CA...6ft and a little choppy...nobody was out...took a while to paddle to the outside and as soon as I sat on my board I was hit by something REALLY BIG right behind my right leg and almost fell off my board. I was practically Jesus walking on water to get the hell out! I sat on shore an contemplated my life for a bit. Didn't surf anymore that day, took about a week for me to get back in the water.

Jesus is everyone on here named, "Zach?"

Anyways, I commend you for paddling out alone near Bodega Bay. There's sharks there. White ones.

Hey, sharks are interesting aren't they?

It's the only place where white guys are feared.

I mean humans are all scared of blacks and Puerto Ricans. No one is afeared of white guys....

But in the ocean it's the white guys who are feared and respected.

Yeah, never heard of the Great Black Shark, right?

Or The Great Puerto Rican Shark.......

    Hmmmmm...........

to tell except an 8" x 8" slime patch on my butt. nothing happened to other guys in line-up and
i know i looked bad screaming/getting knocked off my board when everybody else un affected.

I had a Great Brazilian shark bump me hard once from below. I got a good look at him as he was coming back around to have a go at me. I didn't stand a chance but he stopped to pre-claim his attack which gave me enough time to paddle in.

Bro you wear superman underoos below your baggies? That's a bit excessive and lacking in freedom for your neuticles.

Bro that's crazy the shark went after buddy's nuts. Or if it was a dolphin it's prehensile ***** could've reached out and grabbed his. Would that count as crossing swords?
