Hey if there was a thread on this earlier my apologies. You know what, scratch that, F you if there was a previous thread. What you going to do aboot it, eh? My regards to all those who had problems from last weeks monsoon. I hope Brewengineer and the rest of the gang are ok. I know Blasters is, so that's a good start. But man, if any you Gamecocks, know how to get me there, can keep me sedated, and provide a place to crash, I'll be more than willing to lend assistance. I'd prefer a urban area, in case I need to score. Unless you can keep good in a rural area. I'm serious. I feel bad for South Carolina. They had mass shootings, 300 feet of rain, and they never get any waves. Yeah, I hate Red States, but I'm willing to put that aside for the better of society.
this is a good start maybe the whole state can get whipped out and we can rebuild a socialist utopia.
true but i feel like there will be too many salty surfing sitting on the beach all like yeah can paddle out today. besided i can live in a extremely urban it would have ti be central or north.
On this subject (n hey rile, hope youake it to your dest ok n you have a real purpose for getting there)...any yall have any memories of the fall season bein this way? I grew up in the Far East parts of the Midwest, so a bit off of where I am now, but I don't ever remember the fall season being how it's been the past 5-10 years...take for example this weekend...temps in the 60s* up here...I only remember it ever being 40s*, maybe 50* tops in mid October.....whether it's climate or weather, things seem to be changing Good luck on the trek riles
Maybe not on the level that the Pacific has, but if you couldn't find waves or herb in the last week, you weren't really trying. Sh1t, I live like a block from chiba city. Just ask WorldB, he knows what's up. Bill/Riley, we are ok down here. My house is on higher ground in the Mt P, so the worst I saw was a few inches worth of water pooling up in the back yard. Other areas were a mess. I was working a brewery event that saturday, and the road to the brewery had about 2 ft of water on it. I was also house sitting for some friends that live on IOP. It was a challenge to get to their house, as much of Waterway and even Palm Blvd was closed. I think people living along the Edisto River got it the worst. That river ended up with major flooding, as the rain water from upstate drained down towards the ocean. A few technicians at my company ended up being evacuated, as they were moving everyone within a mile of the river out.
brew, what are your thoughts on all the flood water emptying into the atlantic and the possible bacteria levels at the beach? I know the oyster beds are closed bc of it....
Ah, what don't kill ya makes ya stronger. But a propre sand reconne would include a contaminant analysis.
I surfed right after the flood, and also surfed this weekend. Still feeling healthy. My buddy, that owns Odyssey surf shop, said that the worst pollution is in the marshes and rivers. Charleston Harbor may be a bit funky as well. He wasn't too concerned with IOP beaches. I would definitely stay away from filter feeders for a while.
Feel for Columbia and surrounding area as they seem to have got the worst of it. Just another rain/flood event in downtown Chuck. Definitely the most rain I've seen in a short period of time here. Caught shrimp this past Sunday afternoon and fished awhile with the kids. Boiled aboot a pound when I got home and started thinking it may not be a good idea to eat them.
Friend I grew up with that farms oysters in the Folly river is trying to get DHEC to test the waters. His home got flooded and he makes a living on the water so life has been rough for him the last couple weeks. Sure the oyster beds will be closed for awhile. Shrimp looked clean and healthy and tasted fine. lol
This fight isn't over yet, either... you can still help our brothers and sisters down south in a lot of ways... http://www.scasa.org/content.asp?contentid=308
We all need to stick together. Who knows who's next. Don't count on the govt or the insurance barons. It's people like us who can make a difference right here in the US of A.
