Hello... my wife and I are planning a big trip in December.. 2 weeks. She gets to pick one of the weeks and I get to pick one. Her pick is rafting in New Zealand.. my pick is surfing somewhere that isn't too far from there. Most of the places (at least the surf camps) in Indo, South Pacific, etc. are closed in December-February. So, my question is, does anybody know of a place with consistent surf in December that would be nice for me to surf and her to hang out and possibly not get too bored... thanks... looking for 4-8' feet.. reef or beach breaks.

New Zealand has beachbreaks, reefs and points and you'll be there in their summer so warm(er) water and airtemps. Plus you can always drive to the north, south, east or west depending on where the waves are.

Thanks. Any knowledge on NZ breaks themselves? Also looking for anything that is a bit more tropical in the Pacific area that breaks in December.

The internet is replete with information on NZ and the surf there, its a large 2-island nation so there is potential surf in 360 degrees. Hawaii gets pretty good surf in the winter:)
