South Texas Easter Surf Festival 2012 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: South Texas Easter Surf Festival 2012 South Padre Island, Texas – December 7, 2011 - The first major Surf Contest in South Texas started in 1964 and began as a challenge between surf clubs. Teams from Port Arthur to Brownsville competed and the event attracted tens of thousands to the area annually. The Easter Surf Contest became a rite of passage for many surfers and other visitors. In honor of the Contest's 48th Anniversary, Surf Clubs of Texas and Surfrider Foundation South Texas Chapter are proud to announce the return of the Easter Surf Contest to South Padre Island, Texas on April 6-8, 2012 as a team event. The Contest will be limited to 24 teams with each team consisting of 5 surfers and an alternate. Bonus points will be given for age, gender, and youth making this event a fair and fun alternative to conventional surf contests. Longboards, Shortboards, and Kneeboards allowed.
