finally something more than waist high slop in WB. Who else got some fun stuff? Yesterday and DP today put up some nice chest high peaks.
Missed it Sunday unfortunately, had a great session yesterday AM at Mase. Almost forgot what it was like to ride a wave without having to manufacture speed to make it through a turn.
Yesterday on Hilton Head was really fun. I got there first about 3 hours before High tide. It was running waist to chest, light onshores from the North East, but it gave a little added power to the sets. about 1.5 hours before high tide, everything started lining up. Nice wedges coming in. Nice long left. Able to get a few turns in, then nice power snaps on the inside reform. The rights were a bit shorter and faster, but the inside bowl was bending sideways making for a nice final section on the rights. I started with my Sharpeye Disco and then surfed my Quad fish for about an hour. All in all, it was epic compared to the flatness we have been hampered with lately. Basically brought my whole quiver expecting knee to waist high slop, but at the right time, it was running consitently shoulder high with some nice sets. Great day on the island. Much needed. a few dozen waves later, my stoke was refilled, my arms were gassed and my chest and abs were destroyed from the wax... great day though... Water was still around 84-85, with about the same in air temps and light breeze. Wasn't scorching out there.. Very nice day all around. Stoked.
Yeah I've been kickin myself for not road tripping it up there this year, but my jeeps differential just exploded so... Yeah it wasn't quite as big as sunday but the lack of crowd made it better. An got what felt like the longest wave of my life. Went right got like 3-4 turns in, it reformed on the inside and turned into an even longer left, rode that into the sand. So stoked.
