To save money, we have the minimum cable package here. Not much sports coverage except football in the fall. Travel shows, Hogan's Heroes and Gomer Pyle reruns in the evenings...and those never-ending geriatrics and pharmaceutical adds. Wife, and sometimes I, used to watch many of the televised Nats games on MASN. No more. Like you said, "Outta sight..." Still, I miss not seeing my Mets and watching more Caps games.
Yup its a financial decision for me as well. I can watch any live sports I want via the internet and chromecast. Check reddit for sports streams. You can watch literally any live sport event on earth thanks to online gambling.
This is somewhat related I guess. Anyone have Hulu live? I thinking about getting rid of Vios and going to that?
JayD, the various streaming services (Hulu, Sling, DTvNow, etc.) have free trials, and some have "free" Roku or FireSticks if you sign up for a time period. I'm considering checking some of them out as xfinity tv pricing keeps going up and the misc fees, deice rentals, etc., are getting ridiculous and annoying. So before I cut the cord (wrt TV), I want to assure that the lingering luddites in my tribe can handle the different user interface and modus operandi.
Patriots Red Sox/White Sox Bruins/Rangers Chicago Bulls/Celtics Dane Reynolds, JohnJohn, that Buintetag chick... I’m easy lol
I've seen Ovie on the W&OD a number of times. He pedals his bike as you might imagine he would, like he plays hockey, total balls to the wall, hammer down, it's always a kick to see him on the Trail going like that.
Was never a fan of Caps, but I like Oshie and and Holtby (being a goalie, him, Hank and Dubnyk are my favs) and I was stoked to see Ovie get that cup! He’s a machine and puts heart and soul into his incredible hockey - deserved 1000% and has for a while. He upped his own level... be some great hockey this season
Been watching the Flyers when I can. Seems like they have been stuck in first gear for the past 8 years. Perpetual .500 team. No stud goalie when every top team in the division has always had one. They score 7 goals one night and get shut out the next. Very hard to watch. Yet, their building is packed every night with Orange clad lemmings. Typical Philly fans. Much respect to Ovie for taking his game to that next level and elevating his teammates in the process. No such thing as fluke win for the cup.
Philly is stuck like the bruins were, like Edmonton was and Carolina was - they need a culture change in upper team management and leadership and new styles of hockey. It’s a highly offensive league now - east west, defensive style hockey will get you games like that because these guys are so dam good and fast now, styles have to change and that means viewpoints, attitudes and opinions need refreshing every so often. And then it takes time to reboot. Flyers are still a grinder team in a finesse and speed lead league. If a team can find that balance of both, you got a shot at winning. I will say though, every team that juggernauts up starts with a stud goalie. Let’s the team stretch out the ice with more confidence. Put a good tender in the pipes would be a start but the team would need to buy into it wholesale or they’d just ruin the keeper like Edmonton was: the place where goalies were sent to die. Or become 7 straight shutout insane super stud goalies like my boy Dubs! Remember the old Philly Boston games in the 70’s and 80’s? Dam
We just did it at the office a few weeks ago. It works great. Saves us about $55 per month. Also, I learned that the millennials call it "cutting the cord".
Haha, sorry buoys and Girl, and not because I’m a baseball fan, but those Sox are a monster team this year - if The dodgers win it will be insane
