You've worked extremely hard to pay your dues - surfing. You now have the strength, stamina and confidence to paddle out through thick overhead beachbreak barrels and score 25 - 30 waves in a three hour session. But you're getting way more than your share! While you're scoring a wave every six minutes, some other surfers who have not put in the time/work are having to wait 30 minutes or more between waves. Gee, wouldn't it be better for all if we spread the wealth/waves and awarded 20 of your hard-earned paddle-for-position takeoffs to your fellow surfers? Wouldn't that make it a better world? Do we really want a president and congress with that mentality?

He was talking about giving the same tax breaks to regular folks that Bush gave to the rich, not sharing everyone's money, you dumbass.

    Duh.....

Thanks for clearing that up - especially the "dumbass" part. I admit, I must be a dumbass for not understanding how Mr. O can call it a "tax break" when he would give the dollars that are paid by the "wealthy" to other citizens who pay little or no federal income tax (we're talking about federal income tax here, not other payroll deductions like each individual's Social Security and Medicare contributions).

Let's call it a "wave break" too. It's got a nice ring . . . sounds legit. The kooks get 20 of the 30 waves that I've paddled into position to catch, because they're "deserving" - and I can "afford" to give those waves up. Whether we're talking about the dollars you might someday earn, or the waves you work to catch now, a "spread the wealth" world doesn't quite seem fair to this dumbass.

    Dude, seriously?

Newsflash: social services in this country have always been funded by federal income taxes. This is nothing new. Just like Al Gore didn't invent the internet, Obama didn't invent Welfare. I'm saying this tongue-in-cheek, hoping that you're not really this uninformed.

Once again, all Obama was referring to in that "sharing the wealth" comment was rolling back the bush tax cuts on the rich and giving a tax break to the middle class in an effort to level the playing field. Nothing more, nothing less. At no point has Obama said he that plans to take money from the rich and give it away, though technically that is how taxation works: the people with more money pay higher taxes because they can, and the less fortunate get some help, and it works that way under ANY president. Although apparently you believe that this is some kind of Obama-manufactured scheme to defraud you out of your money (kind of like how McCain's buddy Charles Keating scammed thousands of Americans out of their savings, but we won't get into that now).

So please point me to a youtube url or something similar where Obama discusses his plans to redistribute your wealth....otherwise you're just another uninformed yahoo on the internet talking out of your ass.

    Socialists are great

I may be wrong, but wasn't it a republican who enected the EITC. I benefited greatly from this credit as a very poor worker, making may way through school with a wife and child at home. Responsible people need these type of programs to help work there way up in our capitalist system. Furthermore, Palin is well known in Alaska as a wealth spreader. Taxes that are levied upon the oil and gas industry there a distributed directly to the people as checks.

    The "line" up

Oh yeah. I forget to mention this part. I prefer to take turns in the "line" up with my fellow surfers and typically will give waves to those nearby regardless of skill level. Aloha! Unfortunately the line system never works of in our shifty beach break conditions.

I wasn't quite convinced by your arguments/logic until you pointed out that those who might have a different opinion are either a "dumbass" or an "uninformed yahoo." Wow - that's powerful. Nice talking with you.

Why don't you get yourself a tissue and respond with the info requested. You're the one coming to a surfing message board to discuss politics, so sack up and accept the challenge.

Show me a URL where Obama discusses his wealth redistribution plans, or a link to the page of his economic policy (which is available online) that clearly indicates that this is what he plans to do.

    It's a simple request.

LateTakeOff: You posted this same thread in the SouthEast forum...to what end? I think it is obvious that you yourself aren't quite convinced and are merely looking for reassurance. Do yourself a favor, spend about 2 hours doing a little research on the candidates and then make an informed decision based on that research. I am sure that you will come to the right conclusion...

Misguided politics on our surf community website?

    wtf.

We are all from different persuasions and political views, and when I paddled out I don't give a shiz if your a republican, a democrat, gay, or a commie....what would possess someone to post this here.

    wtf.

That's all I have to say. Take it somewhere else, like im-a-f'n-pundit.com or whatever....come here to talk about surfing and the lifestyle. Go Vote.

Still waiting for you to offer some FACTUAL BASIS for your assertions.

I guess you're having a hard time finding something that doesn't exist. :D
