A weekend with good EC swell passes and no one bothers to post about scoring? Brahs are busy posting about non-surf hobbies, what wetty to wear at room temp at Church on Sundays, redundant PR/CR Q&A, teen grom social meetups, and dozen-birthing gnomes with three wishes, but not a mention of any piers shott on the EC or Deep South this past weekend. It ain't flat, we've actually got some swell coming through every couple days now. Spicoli's prophecy of daily spring stoke is more a reality by the day in the physical world so get on something and post up, bros. If you're not gonna post of surfing then at least post about attempts at surfing which is what I ramble about here. Let's hear it.
Well, I just got back from OBX and scored there chest high everyday. Nice little push from the groundswell too. Clean everyday except for the last. Will post pics later.
Saturday afternoon was some of the most fun I've had in a long, long time. Stomach-shoulder high punchy wedges with head-overhead sets. Peaks scattered down the beach so the crowds were thin. Traded fun little barrels and walls with two of my buddies for a few hours, with no one out within a couple hundred yards. Pure bliss. Only downside was as the tide came in the impact zone got mighty shallow, mighty quick. I did some serious bouncing off the sand. Been a great couple of months. My new job has me out at 3 most days, my water time has skyrocketed.
Was supposed to meet up with a SI forum member for good waist to chest high surf. It was more like knee high boat wakes, and long lulls between. Water was pretty. It looks like the waves, after a good month of various swells, are going into early summer mode down here. We usually get some more north swells late April. Maybe tropical season will ramp up soon. Stay tuned.
Sat Am was pretty fun. It was a tad wonky early on though. I had to check through a lot of spots to find one that was working well, and it was no secret spot. However, the waves were pretty damn fun, and plenty to go around so, no complaints.
some decent waves yesterday at NSB, super sketchy this weekend since three people were bitten here this past Friday
Bro I think we had the same sesh. Glad to hear it. Makes sense since we were in the same area of swell and wind most likely. Best sesh ever for me, no doubt. I was getting down the line and setting up for a shack but these waves weren't spitting hollow. Still great fun on the ramps. Think I only missed one takeoff and that one was still fun. The stoke continued until tide got too low as you said and offshores hung up the peel to much. Weds-Fri look nice and clean. Spring of stoke boys. Get some.
Best ride of my surfing life Saturday-- 3-4' nice drop, super fun, long ride. And a big stoked up pat on the back coming off the wave from FLSURFDOG who was there with his new stick.
Err buddy in the house having career days on Saturday!! Nice work, Bettina. Stoke is an epidemic. Love to hear of the friendly break meetups (the good kind!) amongst SI brahs and wahines too. Temps are jacking up today and so is the chunky swell in EMass. Should be fun this week with offshore winds and the sun coming out. Next Monday looks like it will hit the low 70s. I may bust out the 3/2 in this sun. Couple of beach days this weekend. Get some.
If there's been anything happening in VB, I've been missing it. Must be a timing thing. Got out 5 times last week, mostly in the afternoon, and have nothing to report. Have changed to a smaller, much lighter board the last two sessions, so I've been trying to get dialed in on that. Will be out there (Dam Neck) this afternoon.
Yeah, things didn't quite work out as expected. Since I ended up at the inlet I think some of the bigger waves I got were indeed boat wakes. Definitely feeling more summery here. To celebrate, I went and shredded some 5 second wind chop yesterday. But fear not, Cocoa Beach, the Belmar of Florida, is just a short drive away! FLY A BANNER FOR SHOTTING COCOA PIER ON 23' BARELLS!
Its been good ya. Have two days off and its supposed to clean up where I am. Checked a few spots this morning, wind was no good, but mother nature sure was alive. Good to see the birds and rabbits braving 25kt gusts and down pours.
Yeah, it was super fun out at NSB. Where is it going to be that big in the gulf Gilman? I'd drive west for some of that.
Oh and now it's warm enough to rock da springsuit in Jax. Water finally warmed up and it feels AWESOME!!! Gonna take a 3 hour lunch today if the wave cooperate. Could be a fun longboard day down in Flawda bradahs
kai tomorrow is looking really good size wise at lido, hard onshores though so there should be some nice air sections
Thanks Gil, I haven't surfed the gulf on a good swell in years. Caught some small stuff in Naples during last Thanksgiving. Lido huh? I was always partial to Venice even though it's zoo like
