Well, now that we've changed our clocks, Spring begins on the 20th, yep, Winter is officially coming to an end. There were some quality swells but something about Fall and Spring that I love. Waves are good, water is warm enough to to not wear a wetsuite, for youse guys up North, it's probably 3/2 or spring suite territory soon.

Things to look forward to! I particularly like the long crispy lines that role in this time of year, the color of the sky, the long afternoon / evenings in the sun. Plenty of scenery on the beach and occasionally in the water.

These are the good things, then there's always the fair weather folks who crawl out from under their rock and decide to make everything crowded, not just the lineups. Driving especially sucks around Spring Break. I can tolerate these things for a period of time though, because Spring is such a nice time of year.

What do you like or disklike about Spring?

Later evening sessions is the big one. It's @ 50 minutes to the waves for me so it's much easier to leave work a few hours early and then surf into the evening. The dawn patrol thing only works for my schedule on weekends.

I also like ditching my hood and gloves as soon as feasible. The boots I don't mind.

^+1 would add good fishing to that above

I did some sand reconne Sunday and couldn't get over how many people were out in full suites and booties with brand new shiny boards on thigh high chop. Looked as if they have never surfed before but hey had all the cool accessories. Gawd help us come spring time. I've made up my mind to get my boat running to get some seclusion this year.

Heard peepers for the first time last weds, that's always special for me. In the woods over the weekend the vernal pools were going nuts with other frog species. Saw my first snake of the seasonne too. I like Spring...I don't like how more humans clog my outdoor activities but what will be will be.

    I like turtles too.

Still 43 degree water temp up norte, so 3/2 is still a long ways away, but I though it was a damn fine winter. Most consistent since I've moved up to NE in 2000. I mean I was in the water at least twice a week *all* winter, crazy. Some big swells to boot, but clean winds did not align with the big swells for the most part unfortunately. Love Spring here, usually good thru mid-June, then summer flatness...

Spring is my favorite season... followed by fall. Why? Mostly because of the anticipation of summer, and the reduced workload at work... shorter workdays, lunch breaks, and a slow, leisurely pace in getting things done. But then there's...

The spring run of striped bass.
Grilling over a backyard fire pit with cold beers and good friends... with no bugs.
    Opening up the windows.
    Glassing outdoors.
The garden looks lush and fresh and everything's tender (mind out of the gutter, guys)
It's light out driving to work in the morning... and light coming home.
    After dinner surf sessions.
