State of The Forum Address

The pussification of this country(that's been discussed ad nauseum here) has finally reached this forum. F it, I'm done. I mean, really, look at ANY forum on the internet and digression happens everywhere. And any of you guys that reported people b/c your feelings were hurt, you're kooks, bottom line. I don't even know what else to say. God(or Admin) forbid we have a little fun on here.

And the guy you guys vote as Member of the Year, by an overwhelming majority, no one even starts a freedom thread for him. What do I have to start every one?

And Wayne, you are officially the Biggest Douche in the Universe.

 

ss, help the free sandblasters and pjb and rcarter we have all been victims and these new mods are bias i even got a ip ban for quoting full metal jacket..

 

Maybe we should start our own forum, we could even do it as a public facebook 'page' or group, let me think about this...but these new mods are gestapo, i got a warning for the language used when i called out 42 for being a passive aggressive Richard.

 

But clearly the tide has turned here...

We are voluntarily participating in a free activity on someone else's cyberspace, they set the tone. Apparently we were too rowdy. Well done everyone, I'd expect nothing less form a bunch of surfers. Happy 2014!

 

Give it some time seldom before you go packing your bags. But know this... the internet is like life... this site will get on without you if you decide to bail. so I say give it some time before you pull the ejection chord.

Also... I think its good to feel like this because a lot of users had to go through this feeling of leaving the site when it started going all bonkers around here back around the boston bombings...

 

SS, A FB page would be worthless. To much "Identity" involved. Who are the new mods around here? I haven't seen any yet.

Strange times, KB, strange times indeed.

 

There were days that I'd log on to SI Forum & have the only real laugh of my day reading some of this stuff. Really! Some guys posted some absolutely incredibly funny laugh-out-loud stuff. And you guys reading this know it, 'cause you were logging in & cracking up, too. I mean, I had never even heard of contrails that don't move....vines (with my name being screamed!) ..... gigantic wooden surfboards selling for $500k...pier shotting....23' barrels off belmar....

The 'hate' thing went from kinda serious to goofy awards to totally tongue-in-cheek pretty funny stuff (GitCarter, still one of my all-time favorite ranters). At this point, anyone taking the 'hate' threads seriously needs to, well, lighten up Francis. (ok, that was a joke too, playing off the line from 'Stripes')

Well, Micah, it's your site & thus final word is yours of course.

Just my two centavos: I get jumped all the time on this Forum, but it doesn't bother me. Some of the stuff posted here is really hilarious, very original & some of it is off the wall. There is also an evolving self-policing aspect to the SI Forum, IMHO, that seems to actually be working. Why not let it roll & see what happens?

Anyways, some real cool guys on here along with some total flakes who wouldn't put a sock on it if you paid them to. Kinda like any lineup in the world, eh....?

Observation: the last time there were 'appointed moderators' on SI it was a disaster. Mods were guys with agendas, guys deleting posts on an arbitrary basis, guys who couldn't spell, guys who silently read PM's & then took sides on topics.....it was another level of bizarre, actually. And when people stop coming around to the site....clicks fall off.....advertisers notice.....just sayin'......

One result of the new parameters, or renewal of the old parameters, who knows anymore what it really is shaping up as, is perhaps less clicks on the site. People used to check in pretty frequently, and it wasn't to see green-go-to-red every time the forecast moved from five-days-to-two-days out, either.

People would check in to read up on PJB's stories of Seldom Seen, or ZaGaffer's Cali posts (always interesting), or a tempest in a teapot between me & Lee (long since smooved out), or Spicoli's stream-of-consciousness items from planet New England, or RCarter's Sherman-esque march through the Forum as he sought HOTY14 status, or MIS13's ripostes with a number of playuhs, or Pumpmaster's latest weaponry acquisitions, or Sandblasters latest & greatest scorched earth postings, or Brewengineer's superb utilization of the King's English (thundercu*t will forever live on), or NYNJ's Belmar Blasts.....and any number of off-the-wall items from our resident Ward 6 resident population.

Took a thick skin to roll with it here, sometimes, but it was a lively, funny place to say the least. Too bad the amusement park is shuttered.
