State of The Forum Address

I joined SI for two reasons: 1- I am too stupid to learn to read wind and swell crap from other sights, and the basic line graph of swell height is about as complex as I can comprehend. I actually say "belly high and green today, with intermittent touches of blue at lunch time." 2- The variety of forum topics allows me to learn about serious stuff on one thread and bro down on another by breaking balls and saying random ish. I actually laugh when I read the battles that go on in these threads. I enjoy the cast of characters on this forum very much, whether they are heros or villans, losers or semi-losers, etc. Just because you limit threads to be about specs and merchandise and sciencey content doesn't mean you aren't going to have arsehores going at it---it just means they are going to be pretentious summers eve bags pretending they know a bunch of ish.

Sure we can blame individuals, PJB's rants, Rcarter's base humor, CT's latex fetish, Roy's ego, Spicoli's rants, yankee's venom, I could go on, all these individuals make up THE FORUM.

But you can't hold a whole forum responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole online forum system?

And if the whole forum system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our educational institutions in general as the posters are products thereof?

Bro, the record shows that I'm a RAVER tenfold over any rants. Who can live without stoke and passion? I'm more subdued than my vocal entrance of last year. Spicoli evolves in all ways, just like the greatest bands of our time. Their tone eases as years pass when the primordial beast within is progressively calmed. Surfing is a lot like golf. Way more fun to actually do it, than it is to talk about it or watch it.

 

I used to laugh hysterical when I came on here.nowadays its hard to even comment on a thread because theres no interest.who cares what kind of fins u use.should I wipe my butt with the quilted pickerupper or standard bath tissue?should I wash my hair with suave or tresemme?I have a 4/3 but am terrified to go in the ocean..is it still cold?ummm idk,we need a Harvard professor to answer these questions.cant figure out if I want to buy the $600 board or the $800 board.my life is dull.i work,come home,and try to get a few laughs from the internet.sure anyone can go search jokes,but I like the spontaneous humor,the kind u didn't expect.

we saw 23footers because there isn't any.why tell the truth?for the record,yes they do have 23footers,sorry typo I mean 2 - 3 footers.im pretty sure dean randazzo and sam hammer are not on here,so theres not much surf info to learn that we already don't know.surfing used to be for me anyway,to get dropped off on the beach with a lunch and a few boards,maybe a few bruskies.u stay there all day til it gets dark,come home sunburned and happy regardless if u had the sesh of ur life or had the worst wipeout.now its ms.freakin cleo here,with ignorant questions regarding surfing.in my opinion,theres no words that can prepare u for surfing.no fins are going to turn u into the next big thing.when I skated,there weren't forums to come on and say hey,should u use the clear wheels or the dark wheels.should I use these bearings or those.i don't even know the brands and I skated for 15 years.the only surfboard brands I know are the ones I see used by the pros in competition.how much rocker should I have for a 2 ft swell?will I ever get laid?am I adopted,or mentally challenged?can I really surf,the guys on the forum seem like they pros so maybe they could tell me..booooo hoooooo

I dunno. It's gotten so B-O-R-I-N-G. I used to feel likeI was in a locker room with really funny surfers talking trash with occasional good advice. Now, it's like reading a how to book. Yeah, it needed a bit reining in. But this is like using a buzz saw when manicure clippers woulda done just fine.

 

Incredibly boring is indeed what this place has become. Agree with The Seen & MIS.

 

some people must have thought different. maybe the people dominating this forum for the past several months aren't the only ones out there. maybe some people found this forum boring or stupid this past year. maybe the radical front is now the old norm crying. maybe there are some like 42 who are the new radicals unafraid of the self-important royalty. maybe someone took away your toy.

I haven't been on the forum in a few months but it's funny to check it and see that the same people are still posting every day. Mainly guys from the southeast up to the northeast. I've been living in California for a month now and have only missed two days of surfing.

 

Nah it all boils down to our planned invasion of MSW. Once that poo hit the fan everything changed. People had been saying for months it was too crazy but nothing was done till MSW came crying about our planned prank. I'm not saying it was MSW that made Micah change the rules but that was the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back.

 

mad? not at all (not that you'll believe that...you'll go on telling yourself how mad i am & how i'm crying over my keyboard...convinced that i'm simod4 or whomever). i've certainly been sick & tired of not being able to have a surf-related discussion on here w/out hashtags & douchebaggery getting involved.
